Splendid gastronomique experience in Norman farmhouse

We were just delighted to find that the farm we were staying at -- La Ranconniere hotel, an 18th century Norman farm -- had a fancy little restaurant with top flight food. Gorgeously composed dishes, great wine list, fabulous camembert. Customers had driven in from all around the area. The menu... read more

Just spent a pleasant evening at the above, even after the attitude of the Head Waiter. All the rest of the staff were friendly and helpful. He had an attitude that might have been triggered by the fact that I don't take alcohol. My wife speaks French well enough to get by but rather than what we have found on... More

Great service. Great presentation. Great ambiance. Can't speak to every dish on the menu but the seafood was great. Great place to spend a slow, relaxing, de stressing evening in a historical, authentic environment. If you are tired of chain restaurants, this is a good antidote. Some parking in the courtyard near the restaurant but there is a lot more... More

Took a tour of Normandy and this was where we stopped for lunch. Generally the lunches on these tours consist of bland food and poor service but this was quite the exception. First, it's in a XIII-XIV century chateau that is just charming. They also have a hotel so will be checking that out on my next visit. Second, the... More

We ate there twice. Several of the dishes were very good, but one duck main course was overdone and rather tough. We told the waiter, who was not interested. The service could have been more attentive.

Basis a review posted 28 Sept, I wanted to give this place a try. Being lactose intolerant, I felt comfortable that a lovely resort like this would be accommodating. The place is great and clearly accustomed to serving English and American clientele. Mistake on my part. I advised our waiter about my food allergy, only to be told that one... More

We had a nice dinner. Staff were gracious even though we had no reservation, and my entree was changed without hesitation when I realized it included an ingredient to which I am allergic. The menu was large and we were both pleased with each of our orders.

Beautiful property and incredible food. Reasonable prices given the quality and setting. A must visit - see my full review under the hotel section.
