This restaurant, and its sibling, the Brownstone at the Muskegon Airport, has long been noted for its soups and sandwiches incorporating unusual ingredients. Located in a motel and feeling slightly subterranean, the place has an understated European ambiance, and can accommodate groups by reservation. Most memorable are its unique baked breads, exotic cheeses, homemade relishes, and rich soups made from... More

I want to start by saying I am not generally a soup fan, but the soup here is the best I have ever had. I sampled the Wisconsin Cheddar and the Pumpkin soup and both were fantastic. Sandwiches are very good, too, but generously sized. A half-sandwich is plenty. Bloody Mary was also very good...one of the better ones I... More

Back to the small towns in Italy. Back to the street dining in Lyon. The Hearthstone makes me think of travel and food and comfort. I love the outdoor venue! And I feel cozy and well-fed inside. Frank and Gina create the food and the ambiance that keeps their customers coming back.

I haven't been to Muskegon in decades, but the experience at the Hearthstone make the trip worth while. Knowing we would be traveling and had a time schedule to make, I made reservations based on reviews I obtained from TripAdvisor. From the time we entered the restaurant, gave them our name, we were immediately seated. They had noted on the... More

Wanted to stop here for many months, finally made it tonight. This is one popular place, and now we know why. The food was really, really good. Great flavor, nice sized portions that were attractive on the plate. The service was excellent and the facility is really quite nice. Everything was just right! Lots of parking but it is usually... I was in town visiting a friend, and she said this place was an absolute must. I will admit, it was good! I enjoyed the service, and the food. It is a very "cozy" place, with all the tables very close. Our server was great, and we had a lot of fun visiting. We both had one of their alcoholic... More

Stopped in for lunch on our weekend getaway to Muskegon and were not disappointed. Started with their delicious bread and cup of cheddar soup that arrived creamy and piping hot! We love the sprinkle of cheddar popcorn and cheese puffs on top! My husband got the turkey club, which would have been enough to split with the pomme frittes, but... More

Service was pleasant, albeit slightly slow. Place is dark. Very dark. I had the cheddar cheese soup. Over the years had very good versions of this soup. This one came with some stale cheese popcorn and puff balls on top - yes I'm serious. The soup came off processed from the food truck. Next up was a brisket sandwich with... More

I ate at this place with my girlfriend during a getaway trip to the area. After reading reviews, I had high expectations about this place. I would classify my visit as so-so. While the decor was nice, and the staff seemed friendly enough, the overall service was lacking and the food was average. I ordered the filet mignon, medium. What... More

Our favorite restaurant in Muskegon. The only bad dinner is the perch. I have not found any good perch in Muskegon. Forty years ago there was always good perch.................
