Located inside Itchan Kala, the old walled city of Khiva, Bir Gumbaz has a great location. Unfortunately, it is too hot in the day-time to enjoy the outdoor scenery but the indoors section of the restaurant has air-conditioning and is more suitable for dining in the heat of the day (over 100F when I was there). I ate two dinners... More

Always nice to meet the friendly and sweet staff of Bir Gumbaz. Mostly the lady of the house wishes you a very big welcome inside the restaurant or on the terras outside. She owns one of the rare restaurants that have a long list of dishes for vegetarians. What a feast! There was something new; Shivit oshi. A kind of... More

A must visit - ah, the pleasure of sipping on a bowl of kok choi under the shadow of the kok minor! The meat manti (served with yoghurt) was really tasty and fresh. You could try other Khivan summer specialities like the eggplant salad and egg ravioli. Khivan cuisine is the best in the country, by far, and offers a... More

We went for dinner there last night, nice location outside, staff is friendly but a bit confused (we had to repeat three times that we wanted two beers), only four dishes on the menu were available and none of the here mentioned veg ones, no prices on the menu, turned out really expensive for what it is (simple chachlic for... The menu is the same as all the other restaurants, but the food is tasty. It gets a little quiet in the evening sometimes.

Great food, amazing view of the large Minaret of Khiva (just few meters from it) and great hospitality of Mansoor and his team. Do not miss!

Great place to eat or have a drink. Inside and outside seating in front of the minara. Great (and sweet) red wine. We asked for vegetarian dishes, had green ravioli (local pasta filled with fresh herbs, absolutely delicious), egg ravioli (supposedly a faborite of the khan at the time...) and eggplant salad 'baklaja', which were all really good and light... This is a nice outdoor cafe that we went to two of the four nights we stayed in Khiva. The menu, while limited, was good. Service was friendly and the beer was cold. Prices were reasonable.
