This is situated bang in the middle of the old city. You can sit outside on the table/chairs or on the chor-poys. We did not have dinner but had late afternoon and late evening teas there. We used to go there and order tea/coffee and honey cake (which is to die-for), use the free wi-fi and relax in the great... More

We waited for 20 minuts to have a menu..only one menu for two of us. They were preparing a table for a big group which would come and did not pay attention to us. We left. Many guides bring their groups to that restaurant so you will be waiting....

Bir Gumbaz has easily the best location in Khiva – the terrace overlooks Kalta Minar. While it’s impossible to sit out here during the day (the terrace is not covered), it’s a fabulous spot to have dinner, or just sit and have a refreshing, cold drink, after the heat of the day is gone. The deep rose, desert sunset throws... More

Really one of the better food options in Khiva! - we can certainly recommend the langman; raviola; gunnma (I think that's what its called, potato pasties), aubergines and carrot salad were all delicious! - the owner's fresh cakes are just delicious! - location is marvellous, especially for a sunset dinner! - prices are very very reasonable, considering large portions and... Located inside Itchan Kala, the old walled city of Khiva, Bir Gumbaz has a great location. Unfortunately, it is too hot in the day-time to enjoy the outdoor scenery but the indoors section of the restaurant has air-conditioning and is more suitable for dining in the heat of the day (over 100F when I was there). I ate two dinners... More

Always nice to meet the friendly and sweet staff of Bir Gumbaz. Mostly the lady of the house wishes you a very big welcome inside the restaurant or on the terras outside. She owns one of the rare restaurants that have a long list of dishes for vegetarians. What a feast! There was something new; Shivit oshi. A kind of... More

A must visit - ah, the pleasure of sipping on a bowl of kok choi under the shadow of the kok minor! The meat manti (served with yoghurt) was really tasty and fresh. You could try other Khivan summer specialities like the eggplant salad and egg ravioli. Khivan cuisine is the best in the country, by far, and offers a... More

We went for dinner there last night, nice location outside, staff is friendly but a bit confused (we had to repeat three times that we wanted two beers), only four dishes on the menu were available and none of the here mentioned veg ones, no prices on the menu, turned out really expensive for what it is (simple chachlic for... The menu is the same as all the other restaurants, but the food is tasty. It gets a little quiet in the evening sometimes.
