We've stopped in Slim's Cafe at least one time we visit the Upper Peninsula for the last seven years. The food has been consistently good, breakfast, lunch and dinner. Yes, it is a little pricy, but if you head to the grocery store in Calumet, you'll see everything up here is pricy! Their turkey on Sundays is fabulous. It isn't... More

Slim's is known for their Sunday turkey dinner! It is one of the best in the area. The food is very tasty and the portions are generous. They have a great menu. Their roast beef is also excellent. The staff is usually up beat.

We went to Slims based on a local's recommendation. When we got there early in the morning, it seemed to have a lot of regular's in there eating and chatting. As we looked at the menu, the prices seemed fairly high for breakfast. We all ordered something different. I had a Western omelet which was the best thing at the... More

Slim's is an occasional stop of ours. The food is always very good. We especially love their breakfasts. Service is fine, although not necessarily outstanding. We do think the prices are a little high. They run about $1.50-$2.00 higher per breakfast than the similar item at any of the other restaurants in the area. But, the food is good enough... More

We stopped for breakfast on our way up north, friendly service, great food for a great price. We both ordered the "Mini breakfast", it was plenty of food. 2 Pancakes, 1 egg, 2 strips of bacon or sausage and 2 pieces of toast. The coffee cups were always full and the price was right for a weekend getaway. We bought... More

Good diner food. They are open all but 3 days per year and in this area that is a great thing to know. Might try for breakfast next time as we heard that was good.

Really, this food is terrible. Breakfast is about the only meal that is "good"-typical food. Although I have never eaten their pastries-they always look very good. Too much fat and tough pork loin. Unremarkable salads. The pastie is ok. I have had much better. They are homemade but these do not include traditional carrots.

great food, big portions, great prices. some are heat and eat, but most is done the old fashioned way. they make their own bread, which is really tasty on their roast beef sandwich.

It was very busy, while the food was good- we thought the breakfast sides were kind of spendy for the area. Also the coffee cups that were "clean" and upside down on the table when we arrived half of them were dirty.

Not a lot of restaurant options in the area, but we make a point of eating here when we can! Very good breakfasts and lunch with homemade bakery items. Staff is very friendly, attentive and helpful. A local favorite, so it can be very busy...especially Sunday at lunch time. Food is always very good and hot. Good value for the... More
