Description: For over 100 years, Schuler's Restaurant & Pub has kept it in the family...
For over 100 years, Schuler's Restaurant & Pub has kept it in the family - and beaten the odds. How rare is this achievement? According to Family Business Review more than 30 percent of all family-owned businesses survive into the second generation. Twelve percent will still be viable into the third generation, with three percent of all family businesses operating at the fourth-generation level and beyond. Schuler's, a four-generation, family-owned restaurant in Marshall, Michigan is an institution. Schuler's attributes its longevity to the foresight of our founder and the succeeding family members who have used their entrepreneurial skills to build a 100-year tradition of hospitality and fine dining.

Late lunch in a Historical restaurant

My first introduction to Schuler's was in the Sevenville, Mi restaurant in the 1960s .. Old English decor with printed saying on the ceiling beams. Real Prime Rib with a yard of ale. the Marshall Mi Restaurant retains the decor and prime rib. I did nkt ask about tthe tard of ale

While driving to Chicago, we passed the town of Marshall which is about an hour west of Detroit. It's a small town with a lot of history. The Schuler House was built in the late 1800's. The pub has been open since 1908. The pub has some old world charm with historical relics on the walls. The food in the... More

...we entered the restaurant and it had a foul smell. ...the woman with 2 children sitting next to us said her toddler refused to eat his fish because it was so overcooked. ...the table on the other side of us had an entrée delivered after everybody else was finished eating and was asked "is this better now?" Unfortunately when we were there their gas was out so their offerings were limited. They tried to make it up with free starters that we thought mediocre. The prime rib I had was good but the potatoes served with it were boiled in the skin which I thought was a negative pairing. My husband had pot roast and it was... More

The waitress we had the day we were there was more than understanding. We were 4 people from various areas...in Indiana...and Grand Rapids, MI. We have been friends since age 6...now age 76/77. Another of our "group" lives in TX...and is on her deathbed. We met to be together, and to call the TX friend. Our waitress, was WONDERFUL. Even... More

Schuler's is a unique, lowly lit & quiet atmosphere for adult dining. Winston's pub (in the front of building) is less formal & bright which would be good for families & it offers outdoor tables in summer. We've enjoyed both! Service was great.

Our family had a great reunion on April 26th, 2015 with a wonderful meal served by Emily. She was very efficient, nice and very knowledgeable about the menu. Our whole experience was very positive and we will plan to come back soon. Thank you.

The Historic place where Win Schuler's Bar Cheese was first made. The atmosphere is very historic with old pictures from the early 1900's. The service was some of the best I have had in a very long time, Gaby was our waitress and was fabulous. The food was cooked to perfection. I had the stuffed Chicken which melted in your... More
