Friendly, good waitstaff, reasonable prices for beverages and fish fry. Had the cod which was served with melted butter which was outstanding. Hubby had the all you can eat fish fry which was also excellent. Have come here over a 30+ year timespan and the food has never disappointed. This establishment is off the beaten path like so many Upper... More

Some friends and I stopped by here for a quick bite to eat when we were out on our sleds and it was a very nice place. It was very common but very typical of the Northwoods. We had a great time and if we are going that way again, we would certainly visit and eat again.

Recently while taking an anniversary vacation; fall foliage and waterfall tour, my husband and I had the pleasure of staying at the Root Cellar for three nights. Right away we were impressed with the "homey" atmosphere. The room was VERY clean and updated. While I had been wishing for a bathtub to enjoy a long soak after our long day... More

When staying in the UP north woods, one looks forward to a great supper club at the end of a day of hiking in the Porcupine Mountains! My husband and I had driven past the Root Cellar on our way to our cottage on Lake Gogebic, about a 12-mile drive. After a full day of hiking, we headed over to... More

Nice location off the ATV and snowmobile trails - great place for dinner. They used to have a lot of animal heads mounted on the wall and big game fish but they were gone on the most recent visit. Guess the place was sold.

We stopped here for dinner one night while visiting the Porkies and the half hour drive was well worth it as we were very pleased with our meals. We both had steaks that were large, very good quality and cooked just as we wished. Service was good and the decor was pleasant. If we visit the area again, I am... More

Food and service were great! We stayed in their lodge and walked over to the restaurant for dinner.

I stopped by the Root Cellar during the firearm deer season. I expected more hunters to be there due to it's location. There were only a few tables filled and none looked to be hunters. The food was ok and the wait staff were verry friendly but the owner pranced around like he was too good for everyone. This is... More
