Nice dinner, but fell short

Mackinac Island isn't very crowded the week leading up to Memorial Day, so we were spared the agonies of lines and crowds. Seabiscuit is a very pleasant space, with a beautiful presentation of food. Somehow, though, although the ingredients were all good, it didn't hang together. I don't want to... read more

Rich, our waiter, was amazing. He was hilarious and diligent. The food was amazing and the prices were reasonable. I would have given it a 5, but we had eaten at the Grand Hotel the night before and it was hard to compare against. But, I would recommend Seabiscuit Cafe to anyone and everyone.

The perfect lunch, very good food, for roady weary travelers who just arrived, unpacked, and headed to Seabiscuit for sustenance. Fresh ingredients, interesting preps, great bar--the spicy bloody mary was outstanding.

It has a beautiful decor, but I tried to contact them directly from their own email on website...it doesn't work...before I write this review. Inviting as we went in for the very first time and took seats at the bar. The bartender chatted to others, did take our order nicely...but then chatted more and delivered a food order and saw... This is more of a pub than a café. Noisy which I expect at a pub but not café. Very busy. Food was good. Service a bit slow. Average wait staff.

During a visit to the island in April, we ended up at the Seabiscuit Cafe, mainly because well, only a few establishments are open before season. We were amazed how friendly the staff was, extremely helpful in making selections, and the food was wonderful. I haven't had whitefish since 1968! But I think that the laid back atmosphere of the... We found this establishment fulfilled all our expectations for whatever meal we ate there! The staff was especially fun and their special beverages outstanding! Portions for lunch and dinner could be shared easily!

Went to Seabiscuit for breakfast. The manager was friendly, learned about his experience on the island. No flexibility/substitutions in the menu. I ordered the sausage and egg breakfast skillet but would have preferred ham. My husband had the smokehouse breakfast. I couldn't eat the skillet. It was undercooked, evident from the mushy texture. The smokehouse breakfast was cooked right and... More

We've been to the Seabiscuit before and find it to be good, not fabulous. Of all the lunch places on Main Street, it's probably got one of the nicest dining rooms. Cozy, dark woodwork, comfortable seating. Cheerful servers. Whitefish chowder is pretty good, though I was slightly disappointed with the chicken salad- small portion served on two mini brioche buns... More

We visited Mackinac Island a week before most of the shops and hotels were open but Seabiscuit Café was open. We stopped by in the morning for hot chocolate and then later for lunch - white fish tacos and pulled pork sandwich. All was excellent and the service was good!
