This is a restaurant owned by the Grand Hotel. It is relaxed, deep green, reds, dressy casual. The food is wonderful. Loved the short ribs. It is a 15 minute horse drawn carriage ride into the woods . Service is the best, lighting seems to be magical. (A few years ago, there was a bowling alley that could be used. Didn't... More

The building is beautiful to begin with, we spent 100$ on dinner and drinks, and it was worth every dime! Never had food like this and the service was first class, live piano player!

From town it's a 30 minute ride by carriage through the woods. You'll have a couple stops along the way… make taxi reservations. The woods has a nice bar and the only bowling alley on the island. You set the pins yourself. Great food and a good wine selection.

We were told not to stay at the Grand Hotel, as there are better ones on the Island. However, you can eat at their wonderful restaurant that is on the premises, and the carriage picks you up at your hotel. The food is supposed to be excellent. But you cannot go there on the THIRD TUESDAY OF JUNE, ever. There... More

We were staying right next door, so we dined here on our second night. This is one of the restaurants run by the Grand Hotel. The atmosphere and service were the real attraction, though the food was also good. There were paper tablecloths and crayons, a nod to the building's origin as a playhouse for the children of a wealthy... More

We really enjoyed the Woods. We were staying at the Inn at Stonecliffe, so it is a very easy walk to what was built as the playhouse for the children who lived in the mansion! The food was very good and the atmosphere was great--right down to the paper tablecloths with crayons in keeping with the playhouse!

It was a lovely carriage ride up to the restaurant and the restaurant was beautiful. Great pretzel bread and the Butternut Squash soup was delicious! I wanted more beets on my roasted golden beets - it was mostly lettuce. The schnitzel and salmon was reported to be dry by members of my party, but my duck was very good.

Spent time in the pub, which is across from the main dining room. The pub is quaint and rustic. Would definitely visit again.

You need to take a cab to get here but its worth the trip! Was Mr Cudahy's childrens play house! Its so beautiful! the service and food is outstanding! The salmon and beef brisket was awesome. Calvin does a great job making you enjoy your time here. The Grand Cabernet is my favorite. I will come back every year!!!
