This amazing restaurant on the island is definitely way, way off the path. It is nice looking on the outside but nothing to make you say 'must go in' and then you go in...MAGIC! The vintage decor, the bartender shaking up martini's and the waiters in formalwear - WOW! My friend and I had just had dinner at Stonecliff and... More

appropriately named, the woods restaurant is part of the grand hotel group of restaurants on the island... we had booked the wine appreciation weekend way back in January, and, as part of the package, by booking either a Thursday or sunday night for $175, dinner at the woods was included at no extra charge...the only cost would be for a... I honestly did not know what to expect when I started off on my journey to The Woods restaurant. My significant other warned me that she had read some TripAdvisor reviews up-front and that this place was likely to be “kitschy”. That turned out to be a wrong assumption, but I’ll get to that in a paragraph. My first impression... More

We took the Woods "taxi" out to the restaurant which takes about half an hour. Our driver was interesting and informative. There were about 20 of us in the carriage. It was lovely to drive past the Grand Hotel and get a peek inside. The ambience at the Woods was just right for our occasion and our waiter was kind... More

The Woods Restaurant is located on the anachronistic Mackinac Island located where Lake Michigan meets Lake Huron.Inasmuch as there is no motorized transport and the restaurant is appropriately located deep in the woods, a leisurely 20 minute carriage ride (@$6-7.00. a head) is required...more fun when it isn't raining to be sure! The Woods is in a rustic mansion and... More

How often does one get to ride in a horse and buggy to an old-style hunt club themed restaurant tucked away in the woods? The experience is great, but don't expect the food to match the experience. The food is not bad, but very average. There were 4 in our party, and 2 of us rated our selections average and... More

Unless you are staying at Stonecliff, you need to take a horse drawn taxi to the restaurant. So the atmosphere begins before you get to the restaurant. The place has an "old world" feel about it, with moose heads, antler chandlers, and a buck in the balcony overlooking the dining room. The food was great with good service. A little... More

We took guest from Europe for dinner. The service was slow, our table was unsteady. When asked if we could have a different table so our drinks would not spill, we were told no other tables were available and this table does this all the time. When looking around, several tables were empty and remained empty during our entire dinner.... More

Great service, great food, great atmosphere. It could not have been better. I highly recommend the wood for special occasions or just because... The prices aren't bad either!

The Goulash was excellent! Everything in it was recognizable, something my kids would even have liked, but elegant enough to be served to an adult in a fine establishment. The "Just Peachy" wine was fabulous!!! Very fruity! Service was attentive and professional. Although a pricey meal, we will definitely return!
