The place is so beautiful and the food is delicious! I had an eggplant sandwich on super tasty bread. Husband had a Reuben and devoured every last crumb. The dill havarti soup is wonderful and so are all the baked goods.

We come to Ludington on vacation one to two times a year and we always visit Chef John's multiple times during our stay. Great breakfast dishes that you will try but fail to duplicate at home. And for lunch their sandwiches are fantastic. We always have to get their famous Dill Havarti soup at least once. The waitresses are wonderful,... More

Quaint country decor, loved the different chairs, table cloths and table settings. Place smelled heavenly from the time we walked in the door. Soup, salads, sandwiches. The soup was great and all their bread is fresh made. They also sell souvenirs and bakery items.

My husband and myself have been going to Ludington for years. This time we went to Chef John's Bakery and Café. Never knew it was there. The food at Chef John's was fantastic. The dill Havarti soup is to die for. We got the Cafe Special and Grilled Chicken and Cheese. Excellent food. Can't wait to go again..

If I had not had a guide, I would never have tried Chef John's. It is off the main street and I would have missed some really good Havarti dill soup. Décor is eclectic with a variety of styles of chairs and tables covered in old fashion printed linens. Menu is limited...come early for the daily specials. The bakery breads... More

We have been here twice for lunch and have enjoyed it both times. This year we had our 9 month old son with us and we had a problem with the child seat. They really could use some new child seats for safety. He kept slipping further down his seat because the restraint was not holding him securely. Nothing happened... More

Found this restaurant on Tripadvisor and thought I would give it a try. Wonderful dill harvarti soup! I also had a great salad. I loved that décor. Old fashioned grandma tablecloths and friendly servers.

We enjoyed our breakfast. Everything was great. I had a quiche, muffin and fruit. The fruit was made today and each piece of fruit was full of flavor. The muffin was a delight. The quiche was excellent. My husband was happy that his regular breakfast was less greasy than it often is at other places. I enjoyed the tablecloths and... More

Came for breakfast. Pleasant staff and surroundings but food wasn't great I'm afraid. I had scrambled eggs, toast and potatoes. The potatoes were half raw and half burnt, toast was a bit limp and the scrambled eggs were rock hard. Coffee didn't taste of anything at all. I can see it's a friendly spot where you get a warm welcome... More

This place is highly rated so I assume I'm missing something. The decor was very dated and table linens were dingy. Service was friendly but very slow. The dill havarti soup was very good, but the roast beef sandwich I had was awful. Bread was soggy, meat was overcooked, and cheese was low quality and bland. Was there for lunch... More
