A good choice

Ate at the bar this afternoon. Dining room wasn't open, so we went to the bar. Staff was friendly, bartender was slow though. Had wings and grilled cheese. Both tasty. Not a large beer selection but the have cider. Would like to try the dining room sometime!

Have been coming to this place for many years. Great whitefish, perch and salad bar. If you sit on the dining room side, there are picture windows overlooking the river and the manicured garden. If you sit on the bar side, you can still take the salad bar. Can get quite crowded, especially on weekend nights. We always make reservations.... More

Famous for the whitefish, salad bar, homemade cinnamon rolls. You will be back after your first dinner.

Stopped here for lunch while making a quick visit to Fishtown. Our group had the walleye and whitefish sandwhiches..they were very good..nice cinnamon roll appetizer they give you before your meal arrives. Looked at the salad bar but too pricey for what is offered..and french fries were just ok. View is very relaxing as you look out onto the water.... More

We tried out this restaurant while we were in Leland on a cold misty day. We had seen good ratings on Trip Advisor and decided to go. The setting is very picturesque for sure, but the food is very sub-par. We each had the whitefish sandwich. The very nice waitress came with our sandwich on a plate.....and a bag of... More

Spurge, Thanks, sounds like a bag of fresh kettle chips with your lunch is not your thing. I'm sorry it clouded your experience, our fresh whitefish sandwich is loved universally, we bake our own roll and use incredibly fresh Lake Michigan whitefish, but again, we recognize that it may not be for everyone. The Salad Bar is also loved, but... More

My husband and I had lunch at the Bluebird recently and really loved the food! The dining room wasn't busy so we were seated right at the window with a great view. The service was just a tad slow but pleasant. I had questions about the menu and the waitress was nice but not very descriptive. I asked about the... More

Yes, I am of the demographic that appreciates a good Manhattan followed by a nice salad bar, steak or piece of fresh fish for a moderate price. That's what you're going to get here, along with good service and a peaceful view of gardens, river and wildlife. That's what has kept families returning since 1927. Do not come here for molecular gastronomy... More

We stopped here for lunch - sat in the dining room which has a very nice river view. The dining room host was, as another reviewer noted, a little brusque and not over friendly but our waitress was delightful and the other wait staff seemed very nice too. Service was efficient and our food was good - the whitefish chowder... More

Been coming here for a dozen years or so, only for the Lake Perch. Decent plate for $20 now. Decent salad bar, great view out the window in the off-season (got to watch a Kingfisher for the entertainment). Service good, but gourmet cooking it's not.

While service was adequate, cannot say the same for the food. Salad bar was fair, but the walleye was terrible. Filled with bones and flavor less with a flour/balsamic sauce that was only flour & milk. To enhance the meal they added a scoop of pasty red skin potatoes that sat in a pan for hours! Will never return and... More

Deb, First of all, I would have taken the walleye off your bill had my server made me aware of your unhappiness, we don't want your money if you are unhappy. Please send me your contact info and I will promptly refund your walleye dinner. I am sorry you didn't like the Walleye, or the garlic mashed potatoes. Walleye is... More
