Fun little sandwich shop

Great, imaginative menu, something for everyone! The line may be out the door, but it moves quickly and it's worth the wait.

Make sure when you visit Fishtown to stop by the Village Cheese Shanty for a Pretzel bread sandwich! You won't be sorry. My favorite is the North Shore. Fresh baked pretzel bread sandwiches are great for lunch, dinner and for a trip to South Manitou Island.

We hit this place every time we are in town. Sandwiches are fantastic and they have a great beer and chip selection to complement. Sandwiches did seem like they got a bit smaller this year, but the quality is still second to none. Don't forget the cheese curds...plenty squeaky.

This place isn't big, it isn't flashy, but it serves some of the best sandwiches known to man. The village cheese shanty is only open for three seasons, so make sure you don't come here in the winter. The sandwiches are awesome, fresh, and made with love. Having one sandwich will leave you craving for more. Take my advice and... More

We stumbled upon the Village Cheese Shanty and were stunned with the high quality fresh ingredients and on site baked breads. I had the Orchard. Fresh sliced REAL turkey breast, brie cheese, greens tomato, sunflower seeds dried cherries and a vinaigrette dressing all on the fresh baked pretzel roll. Wow. Priced just right. You can get it as a bag... More

Good little spot to grab a sandwich while walking around Fishtown. Wine and drinks too. You can cop a squat on a picnic table and watch the people and boats..

Everything is great!! I've tried multiple sandwiches and liked them all. They use top notch ingredients and bake the best pretzel bread I've ever had.

This quaint shop has home made bread, jams, wines, cheeses, sodas and everything you would need for a picnic, fishing trip or an excursion here, on Lelenau Bay. Enjoyed meeting the two women behind the counter. They gave me added information about the community. And they we're a pleasant contribution to our stay in Lelenau, MI. FYI: this is more... More

Stopped with our family while in the area. Sandwiches are of good size, and very good. Whether you opt for a cold beer, or soft drink, the lunch special is as good as you will find for your dollar.....any where!
