Cozy little diner that has a good menu and now has alcohol to go with it. Breakfast is always reliantly good and the portions are large. Great staff that serves you quickly. If your in Kalkaska this is the place to go.

Grumpy with hunger, we pulled into the Trout Town Cafe, just off the main drag in downtown Kalkaska. Although the building is showing its age, the menu was a complete surprise. Most items made from scratch. The slow roasted corned beef was melt in your mouth delicious. The fish dishes are excellent. The waitresses were busy serving opening day deer... More

This restaurant is a good addition to Kalkaska. We have been travelling to the area for over 50 years. The soups were hearty and healthy. The slaw was good. The fish dishes we had, all 6 were delicious and cooked just right. Service was good.

We stopped in for breakfast. I had the sausage and biscuits, and the wife had the trout. Both were excellent. Not crowded at all, with just a few locals there. We are looking forward to stopping in again if our travels take us that way.

A popular local spot that was crowded on a Saturday morning, the decor is all about trout including videos that run on a loop. Service was quick, coffee was good and refilled often. While eggs and trout sounded good, I wasn't that hungry and enjoyed their cherry oat bran toast with a side of bacon. My cousin enjoyed a french... More

Don't bother with this diner. Checked the menu before we went, they were out of many things. (Not because they were busy). The food they did have was absolutely horrific. Server was non-existent throughout the misery.

Met my sister and brother-in-law who live in the area here for breakfast (on their recommendation). I had Trout and Eggs, while my wife had Dan's Special French Toast. Very good, if somewhat unusual fare. We tend to seek out restaurants that are popular with the locals, and, as in this case, they are usually good choices. The service is... More

The decor all revolves around fishing. It's home spun, bright, comfortable and clean. I had excellent fresh trout - very well sautéed with butter/oil, herbs and Parmesan. Came with potatoes seasoned with rosemary and fresh grilled asparagus. All very good. My friend had an omelette and she enjoyed it. Save room for cherry pie - tart, warm and exceptionally good.... Nice place with good character. Good coffee. Nice variety of breakfast food. Love the french toast. Friendly servers. Enjoyed the open face turkey sandwich for dinner.

Was with a large group (14), service was a bit slow but not bad for the group size. The server was pleasant. I had a southwestern burrito, very tasty. My son (11) had pancakes and bacon, huge portions. He was eating left overs for days.
