Hubby had Lake perch and I had combo (Lake perch, cod and Shrimp). All lightly battered, house made tartar and cocktail sauce and Cole slaw was delish....also home made dressing. Fresh cut fries too...a lot of frying, but tasty. Very good value too! Will be back for more .... Off of the main road but worth looking for. Very quaint northern... More

We were headed to another restaurant and found out it was closed. Came back to town and checked out this location. We brought our one year old son, directed to seat ourselves and had a good look at the menu, so much to choose from. Hubby chose the Tennessee pulled pork and I got the Up North salad. Both were... Small portions on main "dish" but huge amount on desert. Would recommend. Extremely nice staff. Food was well made and presentation was what you would expect from a country style cafe. It was actually busy with locals, so you know they know what they are doing. I almost wonder if they only had enough for 1dish and since my wife... More

Pretty good place. We have now eaten breakfast, lunch and dinner here and we have been satisfied each time. We will return again. Better than driving to Traverse City for a meal.

Pricy food, but best in the area. They have recently updated inside, now more contemporary. The menu has expanded and has a little of something for everyone.

We're stuck in the area due to rain (motorcycle trip). Hubs just wanted a pizza but I wanted real food. I had cheddar ale soup and 1/2 french dip and hubs had french dip fries and coleslaw. Everything was delicious. Will definitely be back hopefully not in the rain next time.

It took 1.5 hours from the time we were seated until we received out food. There was a breakfast Buffett that we should have eaten instead of individual ordering. The Buffett looked good.

We live in the area and eat at this restaurant at different times of the day. The food is always good and the servers are as good as they get! They also do a great job catering for special occasions.

Cozy little diner that has a good menu and now has alcohol to go with it. Breakfast is always reliantly good and the portions are large. Great staff that serves you quickly. If your in Kalkaska this is the place to go.

Grumpy with hunger, we pulled into the Trout Town Cafe, just off the main drag in downtown Kalkaska. Although the building is showing its age, the menu was a complete surprise. Most items made from scratch. The slow roasted corned beef was melt in your mouth delicious. The fish dishes are excellent. The waitresses were busy serving opening day deer... More
