Great decor and atmosphere. I had the cob salad a number of times and always get extra of the home made bleu cheese dressing. It's amazing. Large portions and friendly folks.

This restaurant is relativity small inside and can get crowded at peak times. Their food is yummy and fairly priced. They have trout and other fish selections they are famous for. They have excellent breakfasts and this is a favorite spot of mine to have breakfast at. A recent redesign has added a bar and some TV's. The inside decor... More

First of all, realize that this restaurant shows up in various online searches and rating websites with several names. Stick with 'Trout Town, Kolkaska Michigan' and the rest of the name (cafe, tavern, etc) won't matter. It's right downtown. We arrived after 1 pm for lunch and the parking lot was very full and the restaurant only had a few... More

It had been years since my husband and I ate here and the current restaurant/atmosphere and menu bears little resemblance to the original place. It is a cute little rustic type place, the menu offered good choices of sandwiches and dinners, waitstaff was very friendly and efficient. They were offering a special "Octoberfest" menu with German themed dishes so we... More

Cobb salad. Best ever. I had it w blue cheese dressing. Husband had soup and reuben. All tastefully presented and tasty. We will be back. On Elm Street a few blocks east of the old hotel.

Small town home-made comfort food in every bite at this casual family restaurant. B,L&D are all good. Just a block east of the downtown Kalkaska traffic light on 131. Don't waste your time at McD's or the other chains. This is where you want to be. The parking lot is packed with locals and they certainly know where the food... More

Hubby had Lake perch and I had combo (Lake perch, cod and Shrimp). All lightly battered, house made tartar and cocktail sauce and Cole slaw was delish....also home made dressing. Fresh cut fries too...a lot of frying, but tasty. Very good value too! Will be back for more .... Off of the main road but worth looking for. Very quaint northern... More

We were headed to another restaurant and found out it was closed. Came back to town and checked out this location. We brought our one year old son, directed to seat ourselves and had a good look at the menu, so much to choose from. Hubby chose the Tennessee pulled pork and I got the Up North salad. Both were... Small portions on main "dish" but huge amount on desert. Would recommend. Extremely nice staff. Food was well made and presentation was what you would expect from a country style cafe. It was actually busy with locals, so you know they know what they are doing. I almost wonder if they only had enough for 1dish and since my wife... More
