Food was quite good though not exceptional by any means, but was of a good quality. The salad was a great appetizer to start with, and also the samosas. The breads (naans) were really good. The meat curries were more value for money and also more tasty than the veggie curries. Didn't try the desserts but the lassi was excellent.... More

I recently moved to MI and visited quite a few Indian restaurants in Kalamazoo and Grand Rapids area and strongly recommend this restaurant to any Indian food lover. They have nice ambiance and good food quality. The buffet was very delicious, but I was not very impressed with their Chicken Biriyani. Give it a shot and you'll not be disappointed.... More

We were in Kalamazoo for a dog show and friends itook us to Saffron for lunch since they ALWAYS go there when in town and were we glad the did! We arrived at noon on Sat. when they opened and there were already hungry people milling around so that's usually a good sign. We were seated and told that lunch... More

We went on a Friday evening, so it was very busy and overall noise level was pretty high. We couldn't really have a conversation. The food we ordered was good, but portions smaller than most other Indian restaurants serve, especially because the prices are on the higher end (~$13 or more for one dish, rice and bread not included). The... More

After living in Chicago, I became spoiled over the availability of authentic, ethnic food within arms reach. Kalamazoo is certainly not known for its variety of ethnic food. When a good friend was in town, we decided to try Saffron. VERY PLEASANTLY SURPRISED! The service and food were awesome! The atmosphere was pleasant and we were not hurried through our... More

This is a good place for our vegetarian lunch and relished the food. All the items in the buffet Lunch were OK except the NAAN which was not baked well and was thicker than we expected. We loved to talk to the cook BABU CHOWDRY and exchange thoughts on Culinary art. This restaurant is located in the busy area and... More

Good food. Decent selection. Great atmosphere. Mears were dry, but mostly saved by the sauces. Service started out excellent, but a longer than average wait for the bill and inventiveness after the entrees arrived less to the conclusion that the experience was not quite worth the expense. This may be the best Indian restaurant in K'zoo/BC, but it will not... More

I always enjoy Saffron when visiting Kalamazoo. The noon buffet has many options, many of which I usually don't order at Indian restaurants. This was my wife's first visit, but she didn't find it particularly tasty, which made me wonder what it was I was enjoying. (I think she just had an off day with her taste buds!) Nice atmosphere,... Saffron seems very popular here in kalamazoo. Perhaps because it's the only Indian restaurant around??? Excellent tandoori chicken, moist and flavorful. Excellent Nan selections.... A little different variety than usual Indian restaurants. Pakoras were slightly burnt. Chicken tika masala was very weak. Good sauce. A bit redder than I'm use to. The chicken pieces in it were not tandoori chicken,... More

We had the lunch buffet on a summer Saturday which was not busy nonetheless the hostess did attempt to seat us in the smallest table in the house located between the bathrooms and the kitchen. The restaurant was more than half empty and it was past lunch hour so I asked to be moved to a better table of which... More
