Excellent busy pub with a good atmosphere. Service was friendly, although food was a trifle slow, but the food is freshly cooked and the pub was a little busy. My gammon was generous and melted in the mouth; my partner's fish and chips superb. Food very good and good value for money. Worth the detour to get there!

Stayed again recently,, attending family celebrations locally, so perfect excuse to stay again! Room lovely. food good. still think they could make just a little bit more of the breakfasts, not as good as their meals. staff very friendly and efficient. my partner loves the real ales and the atmosphere is great. we love coming here when walking in area.

Stopped for lunch here early September. Great value for money, and food excellent. Bar tender even let us sample his wears before choosing. The beet root chutney was delish, and the chef shared his secret with us

Called in here last night for an early supper. Car park and pub full to bursting point. Ordered lobster salad and it was great, lots of variety on the plate but nothing to overpower the scrumptious lobster. Ate outside, not something I would usually do but that's the price we had to pay for not booking!

Called in at this gem of a traditional pub today to meet friend's, have a crack and enjoy a meal. We were not disappointed at all. We had chicken Korma and the canneloni - both of which were excellent and we would definitely recommend! We thought the price of the food was right in comparison to the quality of the... More

Enjoyed two meals here whilst staying locally. Steak pie was the highlight. The beer is good with 5 Ales on draft which are kept well. worth booking a table at busy times.

We visited this pub for a birthday meal as it had been recommended and we had not been before. The food took a good 45 minutes to arrive even though it wasn't busy and all 4 meals were average. I thought they should've been priced around £8.00-£9.00 each so they were around 25% overpriced imo. After the meals had arrived... More

My friends and I visited this Pub/Restaurant because traffic had prevented the chef at our preferred venue, from arriving (he was already an hour late when we turned up at his bar) The menu was quite varied for a Pub in "The Lakes",off the usual circuit. My friends,as Germans, picked the Cumberland sausage, with veg,and cleaned their plates.I had Chicken Korma, and had to... More
