Best breakfast in years!

My husband and I both agree this is the best breakfast we've had in years, if not ever, at a restaurant. On top of the delicious, wonderfully seasoned food, and yummy coffee drinks (Off to the Beach, Carmello, Chai Latte), the staff are friendly. I had the breakfast struedel, and my husband had the... read more

Other reviewers have offered their 5-star reports about DeBoers and they are accurate; however, no one has commented about their asiago bread. This is an artisan (oval) style loaf, dense, yet a smooth consistency inside. It is topped off with melted asiago cheese drizzle. You may have it sliced or cut it yourself. Take it home, pop a slice or... More

It was packed when we arrived and we were looking at a 30 minute wait but two seats opened up at the bar/counter. In fact, I circled the parking lot twice in order to find a parking place. I tasted the Vanilla Cream Dipped Sugar Bread and it was divine. I almost regretted ordering the New Amsterdam Omelet. It was... More

Breakfast was fabulous. The homemade corned beef hash with eggs and toast was amazing. I also enjoyed a cup of their Chai Latte tea. Our entire party raved about their breakfast selections. It was very busy, but service was good. We'll definitely return, but will go there on M - Sat. when we can purchase some of their delicious pastries,... More

Superb croissants, great sweet pastries, excellent bread of all kinds, Dutch specialties. This down-home and unpretentious bakery and restaurant is sought after by locals and out-of-towners alike. If you're from Chicago, you'll be surprised at the low prices and delighted by the quality of the food on offer.

Huge portions, and great food! There are a number of selections for anyone with a sweet tooth. It smells so good in there, that it's difficult to choose a savory dish. Although, I have, and they are fabulous too. The owners/bakers will converse with the patrons, making it feel homey. It's large enough that the wait for a table has... More

The food and bakery items are of highest quality but the place is too small to handle the demand. I went today for a bakery item and couldn't get anyone to wait on me. I left empty-handed. A long awaited second location shows no sign of opening soon.

We have never had a meal here, but we have bought pastries - lots and lots of pastries; each one as good as the last, and the last was excellent! I particularly recommend their danish, and if you leave without a box of krakelingen you are depriving yourself of a real treat. If you are watching your weight don't even... More

Great bakery with welcoming aromas wafting through the restaurant. Sandwiches are made with their own baked bead. They serve breakfast all the time and are known for their red menu items. (De Boer highlights the favorite items in red on the menu.) I had their seven cheese grilled cheese sandwich with added ham and tomato! Great choice! My wife had... More

Everything about DeBoers is great. Family is managing and baking on site always. Food is creative and well prepared from basic fare to more exotic dishes. Service is excellent but prepare to wait in season and weekends
