I'm biased. I grew up in a Polish family with a Babcia that showered us in homemade periogis, kapusta, meatballs and sang Sto-Lat every year on our birthdays. The one colossal mistake was I never learned her recipes before she passed away. Polish Village is the closest we have to my Babcia's cooking.

I have heard of Polish Village Cafe and could not wait to get here to try it. It has a historic, vintage atmosphere that really lent to the experience. The history of the building / restaurant is interesting and lends to its tucked in location in its older neighborhood. We were invited to choose a seat and were handed our... More

This place is still and always has been good at Polish food. The perogies are excellent. Last time we went in, the server was a little rude. Also, it's 2014, and time to start taking credit cards. They did, albeit begrudgingly, accept a travelers check. The atmoshpere is still a dingy basement, but that does add something to the overall... More

Specifically came to Hamtramck to try this place per my girlfriend's recommendation. The food came within 10 minutes and we were out of there in 30 minutes. Our party of 6 had the polish plate, stuffed peppers, city chicken, a few orders of pierogi and beet soup. Parking is plentiful on the side. One thing - bring cash as they... More

Heard it was the best and totally agree. We all had something different so we could share tastes and no one was disappointed in any of the food. Definitely will return soon.

The restaurant is a house and we arrived around 2 pm Sunday. It was like eating at a friend's house, albeit, in the basement. People lined the bar down one side of the room with goblets of beer - I joined them! Although there was a lineup, we were seated within 5 minutes! The menu was just what you'd expect... More

Pretty awesome food. We went off hours (around 2 PM) and it was still packed! We were able to get a table right away though. Be warned -- if you go off hours, there will be plenty of things that will be sold out! We missed out on a couple of things that we wanted to try. The perogies are... More

I would have to say. I don't think I go here so much for the food as I do for the atmosphere. Talk about a family feeling and a fun time. Be prepared to stand. That is part of it. The food is good. Beer is great.

Walking into this Hamtown restaurant felt like being home with family and friends for a holiday dinner. It was crowded and loud with people of all ages. Many fun and interesting objects adorned the walls of this casual establishment. My friend and I had a drink at the bar, a Zywiec Beer, until a table was ready. While our wait... More
