Quaint and delicious

First tip- bring cash- cash only. We got there at the right time- on a Sunday it got busy with families and birthdays. Sat at the bar. Went to experience a "drive in, dives and diners" place---- so tried the dill pickle soup. So good!!! Enjoyed Pirogues and potato dumplings as well. Ambiance nice... read more

The City Chicken was very good. So was the beet soup. Unfortunately the meatball sandwich was awful. My brother and my wife both tried it and agreed.

Have been here a variety of times with a group of friends. The dining area is on the lower level so you must take the stairs. The atmosphere is festive and friendly. The food is great! I normally order the Polish combo plate which includes stuffed cabbage, kielbasa, Polish sauerkraut, mashed potatoes and gravy and one pierogi. Also included is... More

First time. Had the stew and variety of pierogis. So much food, reasonably priced but bring cash. Would have tried more but only brought limited cash not knowing they don't take credit cards.

Polish Village is nestled in the little city of Hamtramck, just north east of Detroit's New Center. They offer a wide variety of dishes including a combo plate that allows you to taste some of their most popular items. I especially enjoy the potato pancakes or the stuffed cabbage. Ample parking is available in a large lot next door. The... More

My husband and I invited another couple to visit our "old haunt in Hamtramck. When we were younger and our children were small we would visit here every Sunday after church. Our family was quite large with at least a dozen children between families. We would order the sampler platters so that we could have some of everything that we... More

This was our first stop on a mini food tour of Detroit and area. The best came first! A little spot tucked away in a sketchy area... Step down into the pub like basement with low ceilings and Polish memorabilia and pictures. We had the sample plate - I loved the cabbage rolls. We also had a side of perogi,... More

Only had to wait for 30 minutes for a big party of 12 of us. Atmosphere was great, food came out fast and we had a great humble server. Potato Pancakes were AMAZING as well as the pierogis!! (Definatley order them) My meal was so big I ate it the next 2 days for dinner as well :)

Polish Village Cafe has the feel of a neighborhood bar and an old world European restaurant all rolled into one. You enter at street level and walk down the stairs to the dimly lit dining area, which is reminiscent many European restaurants or perhaps your uncle's basement. The place was packed, I've never been here when it wasn't, but the... More
