Great Atmosphere

Whether staying at the Amway Grand or not, the Lumber Baron is a great place to start and end a night out in Grand Rapids. Cozy atmosphere that feels like a study/library in an up-north lodge, subtle but appropriate music, and professional and attentive waitstaff. Don't come here to order a beer... read more

It's a small lounge but tastefully done. It has relaxing areas to sit and enjoy a top shelf cocktail.

This is a great place to stop and have a drink and feel like your in an old school bar. The great feel of the dark colors and textures. Pretty good drink menu and nice quality liquors behind the counter. Great stop if staying at the Amway or in the area. A bit expensive though that's not all that surprising... More

You can almost imagine yourself a century ago sipping cocktails in this historic bar. You can probably imagine puffing cigars too-but I don't think they allow it now. The service is great and I suspect they could whip up any drink you might want. My wife was a little taken aback when the waitress asked me if I wanted blue... More

My husband and I recently had pre- dinner cocktails at the bar and really enjoyed the ambiance, service, and the cocktail. The bartender was courteous, friendly and makes a good drink. Although the prices are on the high end for Grand Rapids, guests receive a little relish holder with small servings of nuts, chips, and charcuterie and the drinks are... More

This place is always wonderful. Great service from a well informed staff. The atmosphere could not be better. Over the past 20 years, it has only gotten better!

beautiful wood in this bar, a quaint, quiet upscale bar to enjoy a peaceful cocktail and enjoy a good conversation. Staff were kind and were excellent at bartending as the liquors are well above top shelf. I only wish Michigan would change the no smoking ban in some places, i would love to have enjoyed a fine cigar while there.

This is a lovely bar with very knowledgeable bartenders. The atmosphere is perfect after a long day of work. I especially like the fact that chocolate is given with your bar tab.
