As a MI transplant living in ATL, I really enjoy visiting some of my home state breweries when I visit. Founders is a place I both love and hate. I love the beers and I don’t think anyone disagrees they do an excellent job, but this is also the problem. It is like the whole place is run by brewers... More

Founder's clearly creates the kind of beer that makes a splash because it is terrific. Any beer lover visiting Grand Rapids should make this their first stop. Of course, their beer is so good that the large taproom is always crowded and always loud. This bustle, chatter, and endless laughter is an indication of a simple pleasure: being with and... More

When I say horrible seating, I don't mean there isn't enough... There are many tables and chairs, but on a friday or saturday in downtown GR there is always a wait and they DO NOT have a hostess. It's a first come - first seated, walk around and hover at tables, run when you see something being cleared, spend the... More

Thank you for taking the time to review our taproom! Ever since our humble beginnings in the Brassworks building, we have made a concerted effort to maintain a casual atmosphere that promotes mingling, sharing tables, the ability to roam around, and getting to know someone you otherwise may never talk to which, we feel, contributes to a greater sense of... After living in Michigan for a few years, I have come to really enjoy the beer from Founders and was excited to visit the brewery during my first trip to Grand Rapids. We didn't have time to eat, but the food looked great and I hope to return for a meal in the future. The atmosphere is great and we... More

Friday night my wife and I meeting a couple for drinks and some food. Our experience with parking was a minor challenge, ending up on the far end of what appeared to be an overflow lot, longish walk in single digit weather. From the outside the building is impressive and interesting, huge vats through the windows. I like the layout... More

Love love love this place... have been here for dinner and lunch. Love the outdoor seating and fire pits. We have sat outside on cold nights, but were very comfortable sitting by the fire. Great place for beer (of course!), and great sandwiches. Things to note: seat yourself, and walk up to window near the bar to order your food.... More

The place had more than other brewing conpanies. It had a good choice of appetizers and the sandwiches were out of this world. Obviously it had a great selection of beer on tap and in the bottle I would highly recommend this place if you're looking for a fun place to eat in an atmosphere that is associated with top... More

Good food. Bar fare of sandwiches and appetizers, substantial and delicious. The beer is the big story though. I wasn't much of a beer drinker before, but I am having fun trying all kinds of craft beer now. I had Red's Rye & Crumudgeon and a sample of All Day IPA. Each was excellent and they sell individual bottles, so... More

Sandwich with pulled pork and ham was great! I had the roast beef and it was a little dry. On a cold night, there is a scramble for tables closest to the heat.

Came in on a Fri night, super crowded. Place was way bigger than I expected. We were lucky to find a couple leaving and took their seats at the bar. The beer was very good, and so was the cheese dip. Reasonably priced. Parking was a bit of a challenge, so be prepared to drive around the neighboring blocks to... More
