Mikado is a hidden gem tucked away in a strip mall on busy 28th Street. I visited this place after hearing that some friends of ours who lived in Japan for several years only ever get their sushi from here. The space is what you might expect from a strip mall sushi place. They haven't focused on the interior at... More

Stopped in one night kind of late and ordered a few items to bring back to the hotel. Their California rolls are different than the east coast as they add ground "crab" to it rather than the pieces of "crab". My yellowtail sushi rolls were fishier than they should have been so that was a disappointment. We also ordered Salmon... More

Always like to seek out a good sushi restaurant when on the road, and I ended up at Mikado. I do have to say I was a little underwhelmed by the atmosphere of the restaurant, but as long as the food is good, that can make up for it. Turns out, that this is nothing more then your average sushi... More

Ate lunch with our daughter: we ordered four large sushi rolls. The Dragon, The Michigan and two others I do not remember. All were fresh, flavorful and well prepared. The miso soup was also very good.

The cooked food tasted more Korean than Japanese. The tempura were great though. We ordered teriyaki beef and sushi set meal to takeaway. The sushi was made ahead and left waiting at the counter. The teriyaki beef took a while to appear. By the time the meat was cooked and packed, the waiter place the cooked food on top of... More

Food is mediocre at best. This should not be ranked #37 on Trip Advisor. The atmosphere is depressing as well.

if you think this place is great, you obviously had never been to any other sushi places in GR. Sushi has no balance in taste, and is over-priced. I normally spend $45 on four rolls, but i spent $75 with four rolls and a small appetizer. I do NOT recommend this place. You're better off going to Tokyo Grill, Kobe,... More

Stopped for lunch while visiting our daughter at Calvin College (this place is just a short drive 3-5 minutes). Friendly staff, great sushi and Japanese lunch entrees. Excellent food at very reasonable prices.

I'm from Detroit who eats sushi regularly and when I'm doing business or visiting GR I make it a point to have my sushi fix at Mikado. I would have lunch and dinner at Mikado's when I stayed over night for business and have business associates in Japan that look forward to going there. I recommend the wasabi tobiko for... More
