Still a Great Place to Eat

I lived away from Grand Rapids for over 15 years when we moved back 3 years ago upon my retirement. We finally got the chance to "go back" to the Cottage Bar and Restaurant. Crowded on a Thursday evening but manageable. My wife and I both had burgers. I had the Cottage Burger. Yummy. Grilled... read more

We stopped here for a late dinner. We both ordered the Cottage Burger which is on a dark rye bun, with green olives, lettuce, tomatoes, bacon, Swiss and American cheeses and hickory mayonnaise. It is was very good. My husband also ordered a side of Cottage Fries, which are potato wedges, skins on and fried. A good amount of potatoes,... More

Went downtown GR last night and had a good beer and burger. Had the cheddar cheese burger and a blood orange beer. Nice small homey place. Wait staff very friendly. Sister had a burger salad which was excellent and my wife had the fish and chips, also excellent. Fish had three huge pieces. For my burger I really like the... More

Cottage Bar is an institution in GR, always a fun place to bring your friends. Their Cottage Burger is always listed on the menu as a winner, I don't get in here often enough to try the other menu items so I always go for the " cottage burger" which is very good.

I've been eating at the Cottage for 15 years now and it's always just as soon as it was the time before. You can depend on the Cottage to have wonderful burger, great chili and cold beer. It's a comfortable, casual environment. This place is a Grand Rapids staple.

Been in business forever. Located in Downtown East of VanAndel Arena by a few blocks. Well known for its Burgers and Chili. Has had a chili cook off for years. Small but quaint bar. Frequented by many locals. Walking distance from downtown shopping. A classic old bar. Good bar menu.

I am in Grand Rapids for a Janet Jackson concert and, as luck would have it, I happened upon this gem of a restaurant. The menu is online, so I checked it out. The prices looked reasonable. Plus, it was within distance from my hotel, so I gave it a shot. I'm definitely glad I did!! I had the 1/3... More

Wonderful Cottage Burger, especially the deluxe with 2 patties. Many types of beer, many local, though I'm a wine fan. Less choices. We go a couple times a year for the burger. (Try the 4 alarm chili!) Nothing extraordinary as far as ambience. Good location. Recommend.

I recently met up with an old friend here for lunch -- he and I used to hang out at the Cottage more than 20 years ago and the place hasn't changed a bit. In fact, the same waitress waited on us that we remembered from the early 1990s! The Cottage was always known for its burgers along with the... More
