We arrived at 7PM in Grand Rapids, checked into our hotel as fast as possible & headed out to do some beer tastings. Our 1st stop was Brewery Vivant as the description of the building intrigued us. It's in a former funeral home/chapel from the 1900's. It was very busy inside & out for a Monday night; but they found... More

Had previously tried a couple of beers from Vivant, but this time around our server Juliette helped point me and my friends in the right direction on our flights. 4 out of 5 were a perfect match for me! All of their servers (who they call Beer Sherpa) have some Cicerone certification. Very impressive for a small brewery to demand... More

This is one brewery that is not about the beer, it's about the food!. It's in a converted Chapel, so the interior is unique. The seating is mostly benches and it is noisy. It is not for intimate dinners, but for good times. We had steaks, salads, lamb shoulder, and poutine. Each was met with loud sighs of pleasure when... More

Brewery Vivant is an excellent destination in Grand Rapids. Its an old funeral home, and is furnished with rough sawn oak benches and tables. The food was a wonderful surprise, much better than I was expecting, and the beer was a treat - I was introduced to it in one of the better restaurants in Chicago.

As a beer novice, I am having trouble finding my favorite beer. Chose a flight of Vivant's four basics. Love Farmhand. Food was very good....not completely standard, but you could get a burger if you needed to

I was in Grand Rapids for a conference and one of the conference attendees sent me to Vivant for what he claimed was the best burger in GR. He wasn't kidding! It's an old church that now looks like a Belgian abbey. So wouldn't you know it... they serve belgian ales. The key to the burger is the fact that... More

This is the 3rd time we have stopped here while on vacation in Michigan. I am Belgian, so it is always fun to stop for good Belgian beer and food. The building was a church prior to the conversion to a restaurant. You seat at long table when inside. Outside there are tables. Family members enjoy the burgers. Me, I... More

Stopped in late on a Wednesday for a drink. First time here. Interesting look on the inside. Service was fairly slow to start. I'd recommend an updated beer list at the tables also. Good beer. Cool mugs to purchase, I bought one.

We came in on a tuesday and while it was busy, we were seated right away outside. Inside it is very pretty, but dark. Beautiful stained glass window. I ordered the genuinely brewed root beer as I was not in the mood for beer, but my friend ordered a flight and tasted several delicious beers,. I ordered a burger which... More
