Wonderful Comfort Food

Grand Marais is already a special place, and this diner adds to the flavor of the town. Having the diner in front of a restaurant is novel and fun. Locals as well as tourists flock to it for breakfast. The quiche was great. Crust not as flaky as I like, but it was chock full of veggies and... read more

The food here is great. If you are lucky, the food will take a while, and you wont get any refills while waiting, but the rest of the meal will be enjoyable. If you are not so lucky, you will never come back. I know I wont. My advise when travelling to Grand Marais? Pack a lunch. The only other... More

Very few options for breakfast in town, but we would definitely go back again if in town. The waitress was super friendly. We had the homestyle omelets. They were delicious with very large portions. We took half with us as leftovers. I'd recommend giving it a try.

Something you rarely find these days is a resturant that makes everything on the menu, right down to the bread.I had a farmers omelet with an English Muffin. By far was the best Omelet I have ever had! Almost like a crepe with the most awesome FRESH red, yellow and green peppers in it. The potatoes in there were also... More

My first time eating here on my visit to Grand Marais. There has always been a line of people waiing to get in. Anyway what a charming wonderful little spot. The wait staff was great and the blueberry pancakes were melt in your mouth wonderful. I guess if I had to complain it would be that those wonderful pancakes would... More

We were very disappointed with this restaurant. We had a choice of pizza or quiche for dinner. The cook was not making any other meals cause he was making pizza. Very interesting concept. We were seated without a menu. The couple near us shared their menu. We ordered the pizza with hot fudge malts. She gave us 1 malt to... More

West Bay Diner has all the charm and quirks that you expect from a small-town locals joint. And towns don't get much smaller than Grand Marais! Went here on a Monday morning in late July after two of our party did a huge 45-mile ultra-marathon the day before. We were looking for hefty, hearty breakfasts, and boy, did we find... More
