Quaint Greek restaurant

Great food (whitefish sandwich and chicken salad sandwich), good portions. Full service bar, a lot of local historical pictures all throughout the hallway. Friendly and attentive waitress!

Cute little Bavarian place. The staff was exceptionally friendly. The food was excellent and reasonably priced. Wide variety on the menu. I had the Greek Chicken sandwich, which was very good, except when I go next time, I will ask for the spinach uncooked. They must cook it with the chicken. But, as long as you like cooked spinach, you'll... More

This was our first visit to the Sugar Bowl. It is two restaurants in one in the sense that they have a family dining room and a second more formal dining room. We were traveling and consequently wanted the advantage of the faster service in the family dining room. The server was very pleasant and efficient. She took our orders... More

We stopped here for lunch driving through Gaylord. Coming in the back door was interesting to look at all of the old photos. Sugar bowl is clearly a Gaylord institution. The service was excellent and everybody was very friendly. The Weinerschnitzel Is actually a pork cutlet, not veal but it was adequate and tasty. The deep fried cod (served in... More

I really enjoyed my meal of German wurst (sausage) and potato salad here at the Sugar Bowl. The staff is friendly. It's just sad that the place looks tired. I come to the Sugar Bowl every time I visit Gaylord and the decorate hasn't been updated, at least that's how it seems.

The restaurants we wanted to visit had huge lines so we opted for the next closest place to eat breakfast even though I had read some negative reviews. This place was busy, but didn't have a waiting line. My first impression was that it had some character but was old and somewhat dirty feeling. As we waited for our hostess,... More

We haven't been here in about 20 years (had a good experience), and not much has changed. The meal was solid. It wasn't the best I've ever had in my life, but I would gladly come back. The service was average, in a good way. I certainly think they could do some tweaking and make the place great, but until... More

The Sugar Bowl is tradition. The food is very good. The servers are attentive. There is a nice wine list. We were there last week and had a very nice meal. We enjoy eating here. It is not a fast food joint. We usually take about two hours for our dinner.

While one shouldn't be surprised by a restaurant that has stood for nearly 100 years, the level of service and quality of the food really did take us by surprise. There's something wonderful about walking into an old-timey restaurant, and The Sugar Bowl definitely falls into that category. It's an old restaurant with lots of character; it's the sort of... We have been there twice and both times I was unimpressed. LONG wait times, we felt ignored both times. We were eating with small children, they are not easy to entertain for a 30+ minute wait for food. Portions are small, and pricey. Food quality wasn't great either. I ordered a salad for lunch and asked for French dressing -... More
