Sugar Bowl is a Northern Michigan classic! It's been around since my grandparents were alive (decades ago). Really clean and neat, historical feel. The food has been good, more like home-made style cooking. I personally like the restaurant a lot but think the prices are a wee bit high for what you get. If you've never been to the area... More

Good portions, good menu selections, right on Main Street. Prices a bit too high for some items but great salad bar.

This restaurant has been here forever! The quality of the food has always been great! The German Lemon Soup is wonderful. So was the French Onion Soup. Both were perfect on a cold day. Excellent coffee too! Perfect location right on Main Street.

The Sugar Bowl is charming, as far as setting. Our breakfasts were below average, though. The most disconcerting thing was the coffee. It had a weird food flavor, like it had been washed with other dishes with breakfast food leftovers on them, and hadn't been rinsed properly. It was off-putting. That ruined the meal, honestly. The portions were a little... More

I've been to Sugar Bowl in Gaylord, Mi several times. The food is very good, some Greek style specials or regular menu items. The fixtures in the restaurant are old, reminds me of the 60's, 70's dinner clubs that has never moved on. It's still a decent place to go, service is ok..not bad, not great.

I may have dined here at this older, well known local restaurant years ago, but I do not recollect doing so. My DD and I had a very nice lunch with a relative and we thought the food, service, prices were great. The decor is dated, but I wouldn't want them to change it either, and everything thing is in... If you are looking for a leisurely dinner experience this place may be for you. Otherwise, you might want to look elsewhere. Don't get me wrong, the food was good and I would return. The prime rib and the whitefish were both excellent. The server was extremely friendly but SLOW. The place was only half full but we waited ten... More

What a wonderful experience. We were looking for a quick, tasty lunch and weren't disappointed. Our only disappointment is that we should have ordered the larger serving of lemon rice soup. It was delicious. The corned beef was tender, the turkey mouth watering. Thank-you for a lunch to remember.

The food and service is excellent. The prime rib was exceptional and the waitress was spot on. The decor of the restaurant is beautiful. This is my third visit, and would recommend this establishment to everyone.
