A quaint French restaurant who prides itself of making everything in house!

The hospitality was superb and so were the entrees we ordered. I was so glad they were offering authentic French food and somewhat outside the box by serving beef tongue and frog legs. The beef tongue was as good as was my Mother's! The Paella was another good choice! The trout average and lacked... read more

My wife and I are both French and were expecting French cuisine. Although the menu is in French and the dishes all come from France, the taste wasn't even close to what you can find in France. We started with a salad and you could tell that the lettuce had been sitting in the fridge for days, it didn't taste... More

I have never eaten in an authentic French restaurant before, but my wife has. She is a dual US-French citizen and has never before been able to find supposedly French food that she considered satisfactory. I visited this restaurant for brunch and to pick up desserts that were specially made to her request. (Note that the restaurant customarily does not... More

I wanted this place to be so great, but it fell flat on it's face. I ordered some apps, they are okay and took forever, around 30 minutes and then my salmon was overcooked, dry and bland. Perhaps French food isn't for me? My friend had a steak, it was good enough, but nothing special. We were the 2 customers... More

Many excellent menu choices for dinner. My wife enjoyed the roast duck and I the beef tonque; both were outstanding. The service was superb and especially friendly. We have spent a great many vacations in France and Paris, and love the French cuisine and dining atmosphere, which has been so wonderfully replicated here. We feel that the French Gourmet has... What a fantastic place. The hospitality cannot be beat nor their food. For those that have traveled to France or are from there, this is the real deal. The owners do the cooking and the entertaining/hosting and have recently added a nice wine list that goes well with all on the menu. I highly recommend you give this if you... More

An interesting anomaly in Ferndale. A restaurant that really does try to travel outside the Thank God It's Franchise cookie cutter. I've been to this restaurant several times over the last 15 years and haven't had a bad experience. Brunch (good omelettes and crepes, they roast their own coffee beans on site once a week) or dinner (decent wine list),... More

Stopped in here in May for lunch one day to give it a try after reading reviews and wanted to sample the menu before I suggested to our supper club. I am glad I did, only to give it a NO GO vote. I ordered the Niçoise salad and just wanted to get up and walk away. The tuna that... More

My husband and I had dinner there this evening because I was craving French food and we loved it. The host / owner (not sure) was so lovely and was very attentive. Just sitting, we could smell the aromatics coming from the kitchen. The food was excellent and we were truly satisfied by the time we left. The atmosphere is... More

For a special occaision or quiet romantic dinner out, this is an excellent place to go. The food is authentic and very good, the atmosphere quiet, relaxed and very pretty. The host excels in making guests feel welcome and like they're about to have a very special evening. There is no rush, and he delights in explaining the menu as... More
