Mainstay in east lansing for thirty years. Popular weekend hangout....worth a visit..consistently good
The Peanut Barrel is one of those places, much like "Cheers", where everybody knows your name. Our adult son loves it, and we take him to lunch there, frequently. The best time is in the Summer, when you can eat outside.
one of the bars I really like to go for the last two years in East Lansing as an international student coming from overseas. Very friendly and warm environment, just on Grand River Av. So, it's easy to get together with friends even using public transportation or bicycle! Like their hamburger and long island, which go well together. Sometimes need... More
We got the veggie options and the food was decent enough. It does take a while to receive the food. We've been there on two separate occasions and both times it seemed like a long wait. But there's relatively good and friendly service. Just don't go when's it's crowded, or you may wait forever. The crowd is typically college students... More
We are NC fans and had a wonderful time at the Peanut Barrel. Prices for food and beer were reasonable. The service was friendly and the atmosphere reminded me of my college days from many years ago. Plenty of TVs around the place if you want to stay and watch your team.
If you're looking for true Spartans, you'll find them -- and the best burger in town -- right here. If the weather is good, you can't beat the patio.
I spent WAY too much time at the "Barrel" while going to MSU. Its a comfortable local bar/restaurant right across from campus. Known for their burgers and long islands with reasonable prices. I have met SO many new long time friends there. The food and drinks are good as well as the company while you kick back and watch the... More
I found myself in East Lansing for a conference last week and was thoroughly pleased with the Peanut Barrel. My colleague and I went 3 nights in a row. I'm a vegetarian (garden burger and coleslaw) and he's a carnivore (burger, rueben, and 1/4 pound hot dog). We loved the patio, the friendly waitstaff and the unhurried pace. The prices... More
This place is located on the MSU campus, and has a great atmosphere. It's a stone's throw away from the bookstore as well. The menu is somewhat limited, but the food was pretty good, and the prices can't be beat. My co-workers and I ate here one night and the average bill was under $9 each.
The Peanut Barrel is a local institution for a reason. The food is solid-not a huge menu, but they do great sandwiches and burgers. The olive burger is wonderful, as is the chicken rodeo and the BLT. My personal favorite is the veggie pita with bacon added! It's not on the menu, but they'll make it if you ask. The... More
