Love the ambience, great location, fabulous food. Definitely recommend this place – especially when it's a sultry, baking hot afternoon. A cool shelter from the weather!
Only had time to get a takeaway from Omi but it was super delicious. The restaurant (we took a peak) looked very clean and was busy, which is always a good sign. We waited 10-mins for our takeaway to be made fresh and were not disappointed. Friendly staff and good food at a reasonable price, what more could you ask... More
Enjoyed some truly amazing sushi at this restaurant. The quality of the food alone was enough to bring me back soon. One slight drawback was the service. Felt slightly rushed in ordering and seating, but overall a great experience.
My husband took me here a couple years back to try sushi for the first time and I thought it was amazing! After trying other sushi restaurants in various cities in MI I think Omi is still one of my favorites!
Group of 8 included 5 "first-timers." Quaint place with a slightly Art Deco atmosphere. Japanese Sushi. Don't be afraid to ask questions. If you've never tried sushi, stick with menu choices that are all completely cooked on your first visit. Try the tempura chicken.
Been going here for years. Fish is always fresh. Many of the friends I go to sushi with like Omi, not because of the particular atmosphere, past trend, but the volume of fish they go thru, keeps the fish fresh.Omi will serve the fresh fish in any roll style you like. I think the Sushi Chefs know when you order... More
I was here on business, and while the menu is extensive (for Michigan) the food was average at best. Most rolls had some kind of fried component, and it wasn't exactly "fresh". I know there are other sushi places in East Lansing, so I will definitely try something else to compare Omi too. My guess is that in Michigan, I'll... More
My spouse ordered some sushi, &, for the first time, I saw him toss the fish because it was bad. Beware of college sushi joints. Sansu is better, but the sushi there isn't as good as A-1 and Maru.
I stayed at the Marriott a block away and wandered around the area trying to find a place to eat. There were lots of options but most places were tailored towards the college crowd. I didn't see many great sit down options in the area with the exception of this little gem. The sushi was amazingly good and very well... More
Their tofu stakes and (I think) the sea monster roll (seaweed salad, avocado, kampyo, lettuce, and radish -- I think) are really, really good. The spinach roll (especially the sauce) and the sweet potato roll are also very good. My only knock on them is that their vegetarian options are priced too high! 3.50 - 4.50 for non-meat rolls is...
