Detroit staple.

Detroit is all about coneys...and this is probably the best place to get one. You cannot beat the atmosphere and the people that visit Lafayette. If you are from out of state, just go and you won't regret it.

We live in a suburb of Detroit and have been downtown many times for lunch and dinner. My husband recently read an article about Lafayette Coney Island vs American Coney Island in a magazine so we decided to go for lunch. The two sit side by side. We went first to Lafayette. It is a small place with tables/counters for... More

We compared Lafayette to American side-by-side with a coney from each. Lafayette narrowly edged out American because the hot dogs had a little more snap and the chili was a little smoother, which is our preference. A great place for cheap eats or for a snack.

Best coneys ever tasted and the atmosphere is like nothing else. When I was young it was the best place to stop after a night out. Now that I'm much older I don't get there at 2 in the morning anymore, but I still love the feel of the place.

I went here after a concert at Coney Island and I was not impressed with the service. The food was ok but I don't see why so many people love the food. I had a loose burger with the fixings and regular fries but my fries were the best part of my meal. While other customers around me or near... More

I enjoyed two Coney Island hot dogs today and found very little difference from their rival next door, American Coney Island. One big difference was my hot dog was hotter. The cost was I believe 5 cents. They both have an entrance on Michigan and Lafayette. Both too close to place one as better.

Get in here, sit down and eat up! The coney guys are yelling out orders to the cooks, people are loud and and sharing tables with strangers. This place is a Detroit icon. You can beat the experience of having a daytime meal or a late night after hours snack.

Don't leave Detroit without a visit to Lafayette Coney Island. Order a coney dog and experience a uniquely Detroit experience. It is next door to American Coney Island so if one is packed...go next door.

Cash only, but this is the place for Detroit coney dogs. The atmosphere only adds to the delectable dogs and chili fries. Gawd, now I've got to stop on the way home ...
