My husband and I have heard about the Coney Island debate on which hot dogs were better so we had to try them both out. It was around 1am and we were starving so we set out to try them both. We went to Lafayette first and I loved their sauce and the onions were a perfect fit. We then... More

This is worth the trip but the owners really need to bite the bullet and remodel the place. That hasn't been done in my memory.

I was in Detroit for three days and decided to conduct my own coney test. Saturday would be Laffayette, Sunday American and Monday would be whichever I enjoyed more. I am a hot dog fanatic and have done the Nathan's on The 4th of July. Needless to say, I had a Fried Bologna sandwich at Mercury Bar on Monday! As... More

I know its historic and there is hype between the rivalry but the coney dogs are just ok. Personally I think there are several better places to get a coney.

My husband told me I had to try this place. The place is very small, hotdogs were ok. Don't know if I would go back. Seemed dirty to me.

I ordered the Coney Island. Served hot in less than one minute. I had cheese. The bun was soft. The chili was just OK. The onions were sharp and hot…too hot. The dog had no snap to the bite. The dog was beefy but no garlic tones. The onions dominated the whole thing and the dog had a passive chew.... More

the place is unique. There are two hotdogs stores, one besides the other but people just choose one and dont go in the other. Its a really good hotdog and we must taste one when visiting Detroit. I strongly recomend

Lafayette has the best coneys in the world. Ok, so I haven't tried every coney in the world... but I have tried plenty. Lafayette has the best chili, and their fries are just SO GOOD. Also, the ambiance can't be beat. It is in a not so great block of downtown, but I always feel safe because there are always... More

Each trip to a Red Wings game or Tiger game means lunch before hand at the W Lafayette Coney Island. It hasn't changed a bit except the $1.00 dogs are now $2.50. Vernor's is served here which makes it all a bonus. Nothing fancy but the orders come out quickly and the dogs are the best. Seating is limited but... More
