Everything is made daily from scratch, no preservatives. One of my favorite places to go to in the D! I love everything there! The monkey bread is to die for!

We liked this spot so much we went twice in one day. The cookies, PB&J and treats we all topnotch. The whole block is great for a nice stroll and it looks like they have outside seating in nice weather. Cool to see them making things onsite as well.

Avalon is a Detroit institution known for their baked goods and community involvement. All of the breads, pastries and beverages I've tried have been too notch. I wish the bakery had more places to sit and wasn't so crowded.

Found this restaurant online and took a chance. It's set up in an open loft space in a residential area. Several breakfast sandwich and strata options that the server warmed for us - both were delicious. Also pigged out on fresh brioche pastries that were delicious. Good vibe, good food and priced great. Definitely going back.

I am a Detroit native, and when I was in elementary school, my class visited this bakery to learn how they made bread. I've kept coming back over the years, and I've marveled at how they strive to keep up with the changes going on in Detroit and be environmentally sustainable. It is very close to Wayne State University.

I'm a big fan of Avalon. My mom actually introduced me to it. Whenever I'm home in the Detroit area, I frequently stop by Avalon to get some delicious bread and sometimes a cookie. It has a great vibe going on but the cashiers can sometimes not be the most efficient. But I do appreciate the time when someone tried... More

The Avalon is a really great bakery. It has a good variety of artisan baked goods and delicious coffee. I have been there several times and never got soup. The last time, I got a cup of their pea soup. It was incredible! You get your choice of roll to go with the soup. It was the perfect thing for... More

I recently had my first experience at Avalon! It was wonderful! As a chef who makes all of my own bread the old school way, I truly appreciate the beautiful crust they achieved on my polish rye. I brought that bread home, but I had an anise scone that was delicious. I think it could've had a bit more anise... More

Love going to Avalon. Great place to enjoy coffee (50 cents per refill) and a yummy baked good (or two!). I love the chocolate ganache brioche and blueberry buckle cake. Atmosphere is boho and artsy....very welcoming for readers and laptops. Outdoor seating in the warm months---nothing better.
