I had the opportunity to try this very well known BBQ Bar early this week. Located in a typical Detroit looking area ( Closed shop, vacant building all around), this bar seems like a survivor after a Tsunami. In detroit, I guess it was an economic one! For sure, Slows is a survivor and as all the potential tonsurvive many... More

Many folks have recommend Slows and we had just never seemed to get there. Well it was worth the wait. The expected Friday night crowds meant. We had to wait 45 minutes for our table (est. 1.5 hr). We passed the time with a drink at The Sugar House. The buzzer covers the whole block so we were easily notified.... More

I live in the Detroit area and hadn't been to Slows in a decade at least. I went this week and was blown away by the Jambalaya. It was the best I've ever had, and I recently visited New Orleans. This was better than anything I got there. The corn bread was awesome, and my friends thoroughly enjoyed their brisket... More

Great place for ribs! Had to wait a while, but worth it. They get your order our fast. Bad neighborhood, but kind of an urban adventure. Love to see Detroit grow.

Awesome place! Note: entrance is on Michigan, thru big wooden door. It was a frigid night in Detroit, but the restaurant was warm and cozy. Our server Ryan was so friendly and helpful and funny! Great guy. Good recommendations for beer (they have tons). I had the ribs and my friend had the brisket -- both came quickly and were... More

TIP: if you expect great southern BBQ, you ain't getting it here. The place was OK, super busy for lunch, I suppose it meets Northern BBQ standards, but coming from the South, I have to say it's just average. The service was not very good, the meats lacked flavor (good BBQ does not need to be covered in sauces). Of... More

Go to Slows for the experience and enjoy the food. Situated in the Corktown area of Detroit the neighborhood was one of the draws. Sampled several items all were good. Having lived in Louisiana, I would have liked the blackended catfish more spicy. The pull pork was excellent. They had 52 beers listed for sale but being the driver I... More

I visited Slows after the Detroit Auto Show on a recommendation of a coworker what I found was some of the best slow cooked dry rubbed barbecue that I have ever had. I tried two kinds of ribs and the wings and they were great. I also heard the Mac and cheese was good with just the right amount of... More

We ordered a bunch of different things as we aren't from the area. The brisket had great flavor some of the pieces were tough. the pulled pork was my favorite. Great smoke and flavor. the sausage was really good. It had great snap. the ribs had good flavor but really really tough. They should fall off the bone. the mashed... More
