Been going here since 1965. The original is always better then the ones in the burbs. More character and atmosphere.
We came here in September and my girlfriend tried the gluten free pizza. The location is a little bit creepy but the service we found inside was like most places in Detroit - very friendly and helpful. Despite the bad press, people were proud of their city and were keen to please people who made the effort to visit. The... More
We had wanted to go to the Buddy's in Dearborn but some halloween walks at Greenfield Village meant that it was going to be super busy so we redirected our friends to meet us at this location in Detroit instead. The area is pretty sketchy - not a lot going on around there - but they have a monitored parking... More
We came here for lunch and ordered 2 different types of 4 square pies (Detroiter and Supreme is my memory is correct). Both were pretty darn good. The square pies here aren't quite deep dish, and not quite thin-crust, but somewhere in between. They were both definitely good pies, but certainly not the best pizza I've ever had. The place... More
This is the original Buddy's, including the bathroom fixtures and outdoor Bocci courts. It is very clean, and offers a nice room (overlooking the Bocci courts) for large, family gatherings. As someone who likes thinner, hand-tossed pizza, I will say that Buddy's thicker crust was excellent; not heavy or greasy. Their menu is vast, including traditional as well as Vegan... More
Been a few years for the Detroit outlet, Quality was very good, that's why I now go to the Bloomfield Hills restaurant. Cozy, staff is helpful and well knowledged.
If I were to describe the taste of Buddy's cheese pizza it wod be this: a fluffy cheezit cracker with maranara sauce. It was definitely unlike any other pizza I have ever had.
Very good deep dish pizza. There are a few other Buddys locations around the area but the pizza is better at the original location. Most people just get pizza and antipasto salad. I would also recommend the chicken tenders that are breaded in-house. Cheese and bacon fries and the steak sandwich are also good. Bar area gets crowded during football/baseball... More
I've been a regular customer at Buddys for over forty years, live a block away. I often eat there or take a walk for a carry out. Love everything on the menu. Quite a variety of menu selections compared to the old days. Used to go here in the 50s too when my Grandma lived in the neighborhood. Lots of... More
The deep-dish pizza is a bit odd to Europeans, but it is a must-try. The Sicilian-style pizza is especially good.
