A Detroit Gem

I hosted a Sunday brunch for my family at LDV and three days later am still thinking about how enjoyable it was. The food and service (including valet) were terrific. I look forward to returning for an early lunch or dinner when it is not as crowded.

We met friends for an early Valentine's dinner with reservations. We were seated as soon as we arrived. The other couple had suggested the place, and we were not disappointed. Calamari appetizer was large enough for the three calamari eaters to enjoy.Minestrone sipper enjoyed his soup. I had the veal chop on special. It was wonderful. Quite a big chop,... More

Went for brunch before seeing a show at the Fisher Theater. Had fried egg plate and split a dessert (hazelnut cake). Eggs were fine. Came with potatoes, I think. Cake was very cold (from refrigerator/freezer) and dry. We could not get a HOT cup of tea or coffee. Live music in the other room sounded nice. If you drive here... More

My husband and I met his sister and brother-in-law at la DolceVita for dinner before a show down at The Filmore. She had called to make reservations at premium downtown restaurants but all were booked so she suggested La Dolce Vita. We used our navigation to get there. The entrance is around the back of the building. The neighborhood is... More

Arrived around 5:15 PM for 5:30 reservations. They could not locate our parties reservation but was seated promptly at a table near the bar. I haven't been here for years so it was quite a surprise that much hasn't changed. Unfortunately there was a musty smell near the table we sat at. I looked up and noticed that there were... More

I mean wow... I had a childhood raised 10 minutes from Cabrini Green in Chicago Illinois so I hope I tend to know what I'm talking about when I write something like I'm about too... I write this trying very hard not to knock the surrounding area, but come on, it is what it is so don't get mad if... More

Attended brunch with my cousins early in January. Food was good especially the French Toast. I had Eggs Benedict. Although it was perfectly prepared, I was hungry when I left. Service wasn't attentive, yet they wanted us out in 1 1 /2 hours. Won't have brunch here again.

I have to admit that I was a little apprehensive about going to 6 Mile and Woodward for dinner...it's not exactly in a mainstream area. HOWEVER...it was one of the most pleasant experiences. The service was impeccable, the atmosphere was very friendly, and the food was delicious. Our party of 6 had drinks, salad, pasta, salmon, and veal. The price... More

Had a great meal for 5, seated quickly even without a reservation, food was delivered to the table quickly, excellent quality (French Toast was a table flavorite, I had the Eggs Benedict which were perfectly prepared). Had the salmon bagel appetizer which was also excellent. Loved the bottomless Bloody Mary. Fun waiter who anticipated our needs. Valet parking in the... More

Because we were going to a 7PM lecture at the Detroit Institute of Arts, my husband thought it would be nice to try dinner at La Dolce Vita, also on Woodward Avenue. We'd passed it many times and knew it was a popular summer patio dining spot. We had reservations for 5PM on a Thursday when it opens for dinner.... More
