Beware of the automatic 20% tip

Attended Sunday brunch. The restaurant was nicely decorated for the holidays. The food was good, the mimosas were endless, and the dessert and cinnamon coffee a fine finish. The only problem was that a 20% gratuity was automatically added to our party of 4 bill. I've heard of an automatic... read more

We dined for dinner and enjoyed our food. The service was lacking for a fine dining establishment. The waitress was not knowledgable regarding the wines ( although there is a fine selection) and actually brought one we did not order. Weeks later when reviewing my charge receipt, I found that they overcharged above my gratuity amount. Too late to do... More

I always enjoy the ambiance and the old school waitstaff serving up Caesars tableside, love it! I can't say I am ever impressed with the food beyond the tableside Caesar, it's just average, nothing special or memorable for me. Must just come for the ambiance and do come during the summer and sit on the patio, that's a must.

My book club visited La Dolce Vita this past weekend. The food was the best part of the experience and we were all happy. The atmosphere and decor were good. The service the day of the event was good. The only problem and what seems to need work was the reservation process. The reservation which I made a month in... More

La Dolche Vita has excellent food. We even think the bread is better than most Detroit area restaurants. Don't be afraid to order the lasagne. I have seen some complaints so didn't order on previous visits. It is absolutely delicious. I took half home so no complaint about serving size either. My husband and our friends had seafood dishes. They... More

I just went for my second trip to La Dolce Vita, and thought it deserved a shout out. In my experience, this restaurant is perfect for 1) Light meal, or apps and drinks outside patio in the summer 2) Double date inside dinner. Both times we ordered the caesar salad which is authentic and prepared tableside, right down to the... More

We had a wonderful dinner with excellent choices! A hidden gem on Woodward north of Midtown. The Italian Sausage pasta was amazing and my wife loved the Rainbow Trout. Our sever John C. was one of the best.

Took friends for their first time at La Dolce Vita. The food was luke warm at best. The waiter never checked on us, we had to hunt him down. Bad experience - - Won't be returning to La Dolce Vita!

We had dinner here with another couple Labor Day Weekend. None of us had been here before but our friends had heard about it. You really have to be looking for the building because it is not well marked, on purpose I think. There is valet parking behind the building. The courtyard is very nice, all the tables were taken... Excellent Italian fine dining restaurant. "Hidden" location just across from Palmer Park on Woodward in Detroit. All kinds of true Italian dishes, not necessarily all pasta-laden. Great wine list. Not really place for small kids. On nice days, eating outside in the courtyard is a triple plus, but seating there is first come, and fills fast.
