Not what I was expecting...

The taste and quality of the food was AMAZING. However, as a whole the experience was not so great. We sat down and I had a dirty coffee cup. So the waiter replaced with a not so dirty coffee cup. When the waiter went back the second time to get a third coffee cup I took notice of the FILTHY... read more

The weather kept the crowds down, so it felt like a private room in the classic building. The appetizer selection is heavy on the seafood, with excellent crab cakes. Highly recommend The Witching Hour Cocktail.

The Whitney is a beautiful old mansion full of historical detail. The rooms are cozy, warm and intimate. The setting is quiet and very romantic. The service was impeccable and the food was delicious. The perfect place for dinner before a show.

We came here for Detroit restaurant week 2014. Fair warning, the menu is pretty pricey. My option for dinner included a small bowl of broccoli and cheddar, a 5 oz steak and mashed potatoes dish, and a piece of chocolate cake for dessert at $30 per person, not including the 2 beers I had. The food itself was good, but... More

My wife and I dined here with another couple to celebrate our anniversary. We arrived a half hour before our reservation so we could enjoy a drink at the Ghost Bar. It is a beautiful old home. They have done very well to maintain the grand feeling of the rooms. We were seated in the front sitting room. It was... More

I visited the Whitney for the first time last weekend, they sat us by the front window, which gave us a nice view of woodward ave, but left us freezing I guess the windows are old, and the lack of drapery or even heat (there was a vent right in front of the window, but it wasn't blowing out any... A group of us went here for resturant week, which is when all the resturants serve a 3 course meal for 29 $. It was fabulous. I thought they would make the portions smaller, but they didn't. The food is wonderful as always. A must if you are in the city.

Came here before the theater performance at 5:30, ordered the "pre-fix" menu specifically for theater goers, 3 courses at $39.00 per person. Had an wonderfully attentive waiter, ate in the old dining room with the lights low and were not rushed! We had plenty of time to get to the Opera house.

We stopped in for drinks before a play. Atmosphere is classy 19th century with lots of dark woods for a perfect romantic rendezvous. Happy hour brings prices down to a reasonable level. Bartender was excellent. Rest rooms seem really haunted. Lighting is very subdued and perfect for gazing into your date's eyes. Restaurant below may be good but some of... More
