My husband and I don't go out much to fancy restaurants, you know, the kind with valet parking and tablecloths? He doesn't like to try any place he hasn't been before, and his go-to meal at the handful of restaurants we do visit is a hamburger. But we went to the Whitney for a special occasion at the recommendation of... More

When we walked in the door the place was beautiful! We were sat at a table pushed against the fireplace (not cool), & my chair was broken. My husband and I ordered the flaming shimp for a starter which was delicious. For our entrees we ordered the beef Wellington and the tenderloin oscar. The waiter brought us 2 tenderloin oscars... We paid for a Groupon to visit the Whitney and it was going to expire and it was close to the holidays, so I decided to make a date night with my husband. The experience WAS HORRIBLE!!! The food was horrible! Our waiter NEVER asked if we liked anything or if we needed anything!!! If the Restaurants do not want... More

The highlight of a quick visit to Detroit. An incredible spread which covered anything you could possibly want for breakfast or lunch. Omelets made to order and a carving station as well. A vast selection of desserts on the second floor of this beautiful old mansion. Attentive service and pleasant hosts make this a terrific experience.

We went with a group of 20 and my steak and lobster were cold but perfectly done and tasty. The service was impeccable.

We attended a company Christmas party at the Whitney. I have been to the Whitney years ago and was not disappointed with my second visit. The food was delicious, the service very prompt and of course the building is so beautiful! The was live piano, cello and sax music in the lobby, very nice.

Unique setting in a turn of the century mansion from one of Detroit's historic gems. Great dining experience with very prompt service.

I loved, loved the abidance of the restaurant/ mansion. The wait staff were awesome, the food fabulous ... I had the pan seared Scottish Salmon with finger potatoes, whipped potatoes as sides and assorted fresh sautéed mushrooms. I ate it all... perfection! The company amazing, the atmosphere...amazing . There is nothing worse than bright lighting in a restaurant. The Whitney... More

The Whitney is know for it's atmosphere and impeccable service. The food is not the best in the city and pricey in comparison to other high-end restaurants.

Went to The Whitney for a birthday celebration. Seems most guests that night were either there for celebrations or as a business expense. When I pay over $50/person I have higher expectations than if I ate @ Max & Erma’s. And since it seems that the night we went to the Whitney that most guests were there for an important... More
