Whitney Mansion needs some loving care and maintenance.

Beautiful mansion somewhat neglected. Our party of 30 women had an upstairs room. Table was set beautifully and the waitstaff were accommodating and very professional. This is a magnificent old home in the heart of Midtown on the Woodward Corridor. Be advised, there is no air conditioning... read more

I went this week to the Whitney for their weekly Garden Party with a group of 8 Ladies. We were being served by a waiter ( older, bald, white, short) who started off okay explaining the drinks which were available. Apparently there are 3 different food options if you dine out in the Garden. We were only provided with 2... More

Beautiful Elegant place. I went there for a Bridal Shower and everything was top knotch. The fireplaces are so detailed with beautiful slate and tile. Antiques everywhere. I loved this place.

We chose this restaurant for our tenth anniversary, hoping it would be special, and it was. Very elegant entrance, huge staircase, chandeliers, and a lovely piano which was played by a very talented young man throughout our dinner. The dining area on the first floor is bright and large with many separate rooms. I called ahead to let them know... More

Didn't sit well with me the bartender used fingers on fruit garnish and he didn't know how to make the drink I asked for. Overall the building itself was worth seeing BUT carpets, upholstery and such were worn, dusty, tired and very dirty. Bathroom had no hand towels or paper towels to dry hands with. Server or waiter used bathroom... More

What a beautifully kept old mansion in downtown Detroit! I had read reviews before we went and I was SO hoping that at least the food experience would be different; unfortunately it was not. The side salads we started with were tasty [the best part of the meal maybe], however i asked for olive oil and balsamic vinegar instead of... More

I really liked The Whitney. You get what you pay for, after all, and it is no longer really a mebers' only place what with discounts and all, bot having been there and the DAC I can't really tell much of a difference besides presence of snooty republicans

glad I went for brunch but all 11 of us agreed it was not what we expected. Service and food equally a 3 star. We all dressed up but people had on jeans, flip flops. I was hoping for that old Sunday's best feeling. Although some people did- some did not. I thought there should be a dress code. Dessert... More

The Whitney home is beautiful. After we at, we walked around to check out each room and look at the stained glass. There is also a small garden out font but not in May. I had heard rave reviews of the food but my perch was a pile of mush.

Excellent 'only in a classic old city like Detroit' location. Perfect for date night. Service was good. Food was mediocre -- felt like all the dishes basically consisted of same ambiguous creamy red sauce on top of chicken/fish/risotto. But still worth a visit.
