Giovanni's has been around since 1968 but I had never been there before. The restaurant is in the Oakwood section of Detroit where my family lived for two generations. The restaurant was clean, beautiful and the food was exceptional! I would highly recommend it for a special occasion. Even the construction in the area didn't detract from y overall experience!

The pasta meat sauce was tasty but the gnocchi was bland and dense. Child size portions as extremely high prices.Told the owner and she laughed and walked away. Left there still hungry. I guess she doesn't appreciate new customers.

Absolutely the best restaurant I have ever been to. The food is unbelievable Italian dishes that are not only delicious, but the presentation is impeccable. The owner is a lovely woman who truly cares about each and every visitor and treats you like a long lost friend. This restaurant is great for special occasions.

Being born and raised in the area, I've had the opportunity to dine at some of the nicer restaurants, but Giovanni's was one of the places I always looked over, big mistake. We went there for a 65th birthday and I know I cant wait to go back. Our food, drinks, and service was truly top notch. adequate portions, that... More

Amazing service, atmosphere, and food. The wonderful owner is always walking around and making sure that everything is good. The best Italian food I've had outside of Italy!

Very good experience. Food is great. Have not eaten there in a long time. Owner still stops by to make sure everything is fine. Best Italian food in the area.

Overall the food was tasty and we enjoyed a fairly private eating area with fireplace. Staff were earnest, welcoming and warm. However we chose Giovanni's because it is described as a family friendly restaurant and we wanted an environment suitable for our 9 month old. We were disappointed to learn that they had no high chairs or booster seats so... More

It took a bit of doing to find in in the dark, being from out of town and with the bridge construction. Do look at their web site for a revised map. It is worth every effort you can make to get here! Wow! The restaurant is very pretty, subtle and warm. The service is first rate and the owner... More

We went there for lunch and were really impressed by excellent, friendly service and amazing food. The owner came around to talk to guests, the servers were very thoughtful. We had the renowned lasagna and the pesto ravioli---both the best we've ever had. Everything was homemade. We also had a pizza for appys, which was the size of a medium... More
