Just like being in Italy, the front of house staff are attentive, well trained and serve well, the food was very nice, and every bit worth the 80 USD for a starter, 1 drink and 1 main. Would I go back? yes if lived here, but I don't and I'm trying different places every day. It is in the middle... More

There's a little construction going on near Giovanni's... the bridge is closed by the end of the street nearby. So it took our driver a bit of time to find his way into the area (an adventure unto itself, past abandoned buildings and houses, through a very industrial area, into a sketchy neighborhood at best), but once we arrived, we... My wife and I decided to be a little adventurous and an adventure it was. We were in town during the “Flood of Detroit” and GPS kept sending us through some shady neighbourhoods’. Upon arriving the place looked quite nice and decided to go inside. Because of the flooding of the highways it was not very busy (a lot of... More

My husband and I just enjoyed a fabulous meal at this treasure! Their food is as good as food gets! The location is a bit unnerving upon arrival but don't worry, you will be very pleased that you did not pass It up!

Things to get: Caprase Salad, any dish with the fresh pasta, soups, and Veal. A nice place to go with a date, neighborhood is a little rough. This place feels very authentic.

When we came back from italy we needed to satisfy our craving for true homemade Italian food and Giovanni's is the key! Love to talk to the owner Fran, who is so engaging and proud. I love going to Roma Cafe too, but when you want a very special dinner in a little more formal atmosphere, Giovanni's is perfect.

As wonderful as the meals are so are the desserts. All homemade. Tiramisu and Grandma' s Lemon Pie were excellent. A must stop in the Detroit area whether you live here or visit. If you can only visit 1 restaurant in Detroit this would be an excellent choice.
