Two of our party of 12 ordered the steak. It was overdone, and was the toughest, chewiest steak I have ever been served. When brought to the server's attention, he simply shrugged. This restaurant does not deserve the accolades.

First, about the setting. It is a rougher part of "Mexican town" in Southwest Detroit, but when you enter the place it is special. A pleasant, mostly covered patio dining area in addition to the restaurant. The staff is welcoming and helpful. The menu offers both Italian and Mexican. I was a little suspect since I am not a fan... More

We had a nice meal at El Barzon. Nothing fancy. I had a very nice lasagna and my beautiful wife had paste with shrimp in a bolognaise sauce coved with arugula. The outdoor patio was happening. The dining room was its normal high decibel environment. El Barzon is one of our favorites.

I was so impressed with this restaurant!! Food was delicious, the manager prepared me an excellent drink made with rum, strawberries and basil. The atmosphere was beautiful, it was like being in a Hacienda. I recommend this restaurant 100%!

We had a special out-of-town guest that we wanted to impress and El Barzon lived up to the task very well. She was a devote foodie from Manhattan and thought this place was unique. Don't let the slightly manic menu scare you as BOTH Italian and Mexican fares are some of the best around. The service was attentive and quick.... More

Love this place. Whether you have Mexican or Italian it is all great. If you feel adventurous try the goat, it is the best!

I absolutely loved this restaurant. My Sea Bass was delicious. The service was wonderful and our waiter was very professional and warm.

First things first, this is the loudest restaurant I have ever been to. Literally I could not hear the people seated directly across from me, and we had to start writing on the paper tablecloth to communicate with each other. This place seems more like a German beer hall than a restaurant, there are no booths, or dividers of any... More

This is a Mexican/Italian restaurant, close to Mexican town, but not part of it. The service is excellent, with a very professional waitstaff. Though it's not terribly expensive (around $20-25) for dinner entree, it has a much more refined atmosphere than the other Mexican restaurants. Rather than beer, most patrons were drinking wine, if that is any indication of the... More

A strange blended menu in a cantina style facade. We were surprised at the mostly italian menu with some latin flare. But just went with it. Great tortillas with salsa verde. No bread though like italian? Half of us did Mexican specialities. Half did Italian. The appetizers like chile rellenos and tamales were authentic and tasty. Handmade dumpling and twist... More
