Italian/Mexican mixed options a group

I attending El Barzon as part of a Meetup group. Our coordinator is always looking for new and different places for us to gather and enjoy meeting new people or getting to know better, people we've already met through the group. Pollo Barzon is a noted restaurant with a menu mix of Italian and... read more

Celebrated Mother's Day here. Seated in the patio which was very pretty and quite comfortable. Started out with a very generous plate of calamari. Perfectly seasoned and tender! My husband and I had the Chicken Enchiladas with salsa verde. We both enjoyed it thoroughly. One son had the lasagna, the other had a veal and prosciutto dish and my daughter... More

We heard good things but most of food just ok. Had a rookie waiter who did not help. Wine selection by the glass was limited and wines disappointing at best. Desserts were good though

I can't speak for the Italian food, but the Mexican food at this restaurant is incredibly overpriced for what you get. The portion size is just average and taste is nothing spectacular. Also, presentation of the rice and beans was very poor and it came out after the rest of the food. ??? The atmosphere is nothing special, but the... More

Don't judge this restaurant by the outside of the building, or its' location. Very nice inside, friendly service and friendly parking security. Parking is behind the building with security. May enter from the back of the restaurant. Both Mexican and Italian food are offered and both are good. However, this is not your typical food offered at other regional restaurants.... More

We met friends here to enjoy the special menu in honor of Frida Kahlo and her exhibit at the DIA, so we only ate the Mexican fare. What a delightful surprise! We were a little concerned about the restaurant because the neighborhood looks a little dicey, but have no fear: it was a first-rate, elegant experience and the food was... More

My BF had the Caesar, the dressing was unbelievably flat, dull and boring. I didn't get the hint of Worcheshire or is it hot sauce that some places put a splash of it in, neither did I get any of the flavoring from the anchovies in the dressing. My mixed salad was okay, I liked the Arugula, but I really... More

This was my fourth visit to El Barzon and I enjoyed it as much as previous visits. The place is elegant--white tablecloths and cloth napkins which the server place on our laps. In the summer, the patio features the sounds of a waterfall. There is no rush--this is dining. On this visit, my companion and I both had the Snapper... More

The owner of El Barzon grew up in Mexico but is a classically trained Italian chef (meaning he literally trained in Italy). The menu features Mexican dishes on one side, Italian on the other. I prefer the Italian, but you must try the guacamole featuring a heavy mixture of cilantro. Unfortunately this restaurant is no longer an undiscovered gem. Better... More

If you really want to taste some great food you must try El Barzon. This place is a best kept secret that is starting to get leaked. A few too many suburbanites now frequent this fantastic eatery. Who can blame them for wanting the best of two worlds: here you can have either fantastic Italian dishes cooked to perfection or... More
