There is a doughnut shop and bakery in Clare, Michigan that has been in constant operation since 1896. This foundation business was within weeks of closing when the members of the Clare Police Department came to the rescue. All of them. That's right, all nine members of the local police department banded together to save this historic business.Dubbed "Cops and Doughnuts," the business boasts handmade confections of all types. Join us for a warm fresh doughnut and a steaming cup of Cops Coffee while you enjoy the police decor and friendly, and very safe, atmosphere. Come and see the new store in Clare that everyone is talking about.Since opening as Cops & Doughnuts our business has expanded in to other adjoining store fronts allowing us to ad the "Cop Shop" our apparel and souvenir shop. And the "Traffic Stop Diner" featuring many American Diner favorites.

First time visit. Might be only visit.

the place smells great inside. The "poonchkee" donuts for Fat tuesday are very heavy and over filled with fillings. I made a big mess. Made me feel 5 pounds heavier!

The dishes at Cops and Doughnuts are few but unique and tasty. Their coleslaw is amazing, their true potato fries are wonderful. I recommend the pulled pork or burgers. Of course you can't leave without trying their doughnuts. Their day old cabinet has a decent selection for a low price.

I always stop at Cops and Doughnuts when I pass Clare. All of their pastries are amazing. Among my favorites include the Amish Pies, Oatmeal Cream Pies, and Cream Puffs. The doughnuts and cookies are good too. I was just there this past Tuesday for Fat Tuesday Paczki's. They are by far the best I have ever had, and I... More

My kids watched the doughnut showdown show and put this place on their "must stop" list! We visited on a very cold winter day but things were certainly warm and hopping inside. Not only did we buy their delicious donuts, we also had lunch in the cafe and bought a few fun tshirts. The Reuben on their homemade bread was... More

I bought a bag of the Cops coffee, the morning shift mmm smells Devine. The elephant ears are so delicious I bought two more. We enjoyed walking through the shop and viewing the items they have and the history.

Good tasting fresh donuts, but somewhat pricey. Funny thing is that you can buy a large coffee and two of these donuts at a local gas station for less than just the 2 donuts at the bakery!

We had seen the billboard for this little bakery and finally decided to visit, it was awesome. Cinnamon rolls the size of melons and a huge variety of donuts. The restaurant name is fun and they show great respect for our police force. The attached gift shop is unique and fun. The whole family took fun souvenir "mug shots". The... More

We stopped here to try the "world famous coffee". Incredibly disappointing. We don't eat doughnuts or junk food so I can't comment on that, but we were incredibly disappointed at the rest of the menu. There was NOTHING healthy or even remotely healthy. I realize that this is a bakery and maybe this is our fault, but we were told... More

Tried a variety of bakery items, donuts. Mediocre, at best. Tastes exactly like walmarts low end pastries. The custard filling is full of artificial flavors/preservatives.

This is a great bakery. They have great doughnuts and great lunch specials. It has a down home comfortable feeling. The staff is great and professional.
