There is a doughnut shop and bakery in Clare, Michigan that has been in constant operation since 1896. This foundation business was within weeks of closing when the members of the Clare Police Department came to the rescue. All of them. That's right, all nine members of the local police department banded together to save this historic business.Dubbed "Cops and Doughnuts," the business boasts handmade confections of all types. Join us for a warm fresh doughnut and a steaming cup of Cops Coffee while you enjoy the police decor and friendly, and very safe, atmosphere. Come and see the new store in Clare that everyone is talking about.Since opening as Cops & Doughnuts our business has expanded in to other adjoining store fronts allowing us to ad the "Cop Shop" our apparel and souvenir shop. And the "Traffic Stop Diner" featuring many American Diner favorites.

Yummy doughnuts!

My husband and I stopped in and got some donuts and cookies. They had elephant ears too! A few samples to try on the counter.

Cafe' style diner, order at counter and they bring to you. Great names for food, Food is tasty, homemade french fries, good size portions. Bakery next door plus a large gift shop with really cute sayings on items. Cute place.

On our way to northern Michigan we saw signs for Cops & Doughnuts and we wondered what it was all about. So we said something to someone at the motel and they said we should go. So we went and we were glad we did. We ate in the café and also got some doughnuts. We also enjoyed the gift... More

What a great break on the ride up or down the beautiful state of Michigan! My party had heard a lot, was curious, so we made the short hope off 127. I had a giant cinnamon roll, which was the best ever! We sampled multiple selections from long johns, to cookies to breads and pies. There are multiple varieties of... More

Quirky advertising draws in tourists like us…for years. K. has favored the molasses cookies and rates them 5-star. I ordered a 7-Up and BLT. The pop, which always makes me burp, had no fizz. Guess the aeration was out. The sandwich was greasy…and I'm a fan of bacon, which is usually greasy. But this was over-the-top greasy. Lettuce was not... More

We heard about this place a few years ago, now it's a must stop on our way "Up North". A stop in Clare is not much out of your way off of the expressway. You can't beat the selection or freshness of the baked goods. My favorite is the cream filled long johns. Service is great. At times, they are... More

Stopped here on our way home from a camping trip and holy smokes was this place busy! I don't eat doughnuts very often but when I do I want something good and the bacon squealer was good.

Large selection of bakery good and hot food too. Donuts are excellent. The place is owned by a group of cops (So you know the donuts must be good). I'd definitely go back.
