mixed drinks are very strong

This is a local bar and restaurant. Open for breakfast and closes late. Known for their good burgers. The Friday night prime rib is what I had $22.00 gets about 12oz of really good prime rib, potatoes of your choice and a salad bar. Salad bar is just ok nothing at all special. Stiver's has been around since the 1950's, so has most of the interior decor. Don't let this fool you though. Good burgers and home cooking style meals like open faced roast beef sandwich and mashed potatoes.

We were looking for a place that served cold beer and perhaps with a nice ipa selection on draft. No luck here but the pot roast and bread pudding was worth the stop. It's a run down location with decor dated from the early 70's. The staff is friendly and the food was good. Would we stop again? Probably not....the... More

Stivers is a little like “Cheers”, most of the people who frequent it are regulars and everybody knows their names. Well known for their burgers, breakfast specials and meal specials, Stivers always seems to draw a decent crowd . Soups are good and the waitstaff are friendly. Go here when you want a break from the chain restaurant monotony and... More

We're going to be moving from this area of Michigan, so we are starting to zero in on dining at all the places about which we have previously said, "I'd like to try that place sometime." We have been driving by Stivers Restuarant for 20 years and never gone in. We've heard their drinks are really strong, but we opted... More

This place is exactly what you expect when you pull up. Nothing fancy but good food, good drinks and good service. For the money you can't beat it!

This is an old truck stop that's been there forever. We hadn't been years and it really hasn't changed - many "good ole boys" still hangout in the bar. Drinks were cheap and stiff. Only had a munchie - deep fried potato skins - really good and large serving. The east side is the restaurant side, bar on west. If... More

Wow did these reviews let me down. I was frightened the whole time I ate, of the people and the food. Maybe the people who gave this place good reviews have never been outside of Chelsea MI. But if you like fresh food relatively, or a clean restaurant, then keep on driving. Should have walked out but was desperate. Someone... More

Went here for Sunday mid afternoon and had seafood platter, it was $10.50. Menu says oysters but they substituted smelt. This is a truck stop restaurant, with no trucks. Nothing wrong with truck stops if the food is good. The chairs are ripped, salad bar was ok but nothing remotely special and restrooms are just plain scary. We probably should... More

This is definitely a local favorite. Everyone knew everyone. We stopped in on a whim for breakfast while travelling. Excellent service. Food was above average downhome cooking. I had country fried steak for the first time & it was very good. Right off I-94 convenient location.
