Description: The Blue Heron serves an excellent breakfast and lunch in large proportions; they are not open for dinner. Food is always fresh and unique. Daily lunches include a choice of 2 homemade soups w/complimentary homemade sourdough bread and a variety of sandwiches on homemade sourdough bread or wraps. Salads are always freshly made and filled with fruit, vegetables, and/or meat with tasty dressings. Two baker's display cases are filled each morning with fresh cookies, fried cakes, muffins, bagels, pies, cakes, and a large variety of sweet rolls, baked on site. Customers congregate there for coffee and a choice of doughnut or cookie. Their breakfasts are hearty and delicious. The owner is the cook, and it is a treat to find such a high quality restaurant in this small tourist town.

My husband and I were doing a fall color tour and planned to end in Cadillac at lunchtime at the Blue Heron Cafe, given its #1 rating on TripAdvisor. Our hike in Manistee National Forest took a bit longer than we anticipated, and we realized that we wouldn't arrive at the restaurant until just after 3 PM when lunch service... More

Relieved that we wouldn't have to eat at a chain restaurant, we stopped here for breakfast. The place was hopping. The items on the menu sounded delicious, but both the chorizo scrambler and the smoked salmon scrambler were a disappointment. The chorizo scrambler was not bad, just boring. The smoked salmon scrambler tasted fishy and off. The coffee was a... More

We recently hired Brian, owner/chef, to cater a wedding rehearsal dinner at an out of town location. Bride was vegan, groom vegetarian. At our request it was served "family style" with a showy flaming banana foster for dessert. Chefs Andrew and Brian knocked the socks off of the guests present. Everything was so delicious and pretty (yes, pretty!) that even... More

We always try to make our plans so we can stop at the Blue Heron. They use fresh ingredients in the most amazing way. Great combos with eggs, and in salads, and on sandwiches. Staff is so friendly and fun and accommodating in every way. Baked goods are fabulous. House made chorizo, goat cheese, dressings and mayos are all wonderful.... More

Although the city of Cadillac is lacking in charm, this restaurant is a great stop if you are traveling to Northern Michigan and want to have a quick tasty meal. The menu choices are unique and there are several sandwiches and salads to choose from. On the day we dined, they had a beet sandwich, which was delicious. There is... More

There is always something good to eat at the Blueheron café. As a matter of fact it's always been top notch and very creative food. Having had breakfast and lunch here we have never gone wrong with the variety of different foods available. The potatoes are fried to perfection and the different eggs are great! I love the pesto eggs... More

Dinning with a child that needs gluten free food (Celiac Disease) while traveling is hard. Blue Heron offers excellent GF breads and has options in both their adult and children's menu. Their staff is educated and friendly. Most importantly the food was excellent and full of flavor! It was like dining in Ann Arbor but with all the appeal &... More

Clearly this is the number one eatery in Cadillac. The style, the ambiance and the menu was right in our ballpark but somehow just didn't impress to the heights reflected in the reviews. We are more than willing to concede an off day on either our part or theirs. I mean it's just a regular style bakery with a lunch... More

If your typical good lunch is one of the fast food chains or a bar burger and fries? Nothin wrong with that. Just don't expect to get that here. My wife looked on TripAdviser while we were approaching Cadillac. We normally eat at the Fisherman? place on M115 accross from the lake when we travel through this area. The Blue... More
