Tuna Poke Tacos truly excellent

My friends and I enjoyed a Sunday afternoon lunch at Mitchell's in Birmingham. We were seated at a fairly large, comfortable booth within the dining area. It was not too busy, though we did make a reservation through OpenTable anyway. Our waitress, Wendy was attentive without being overbearing... read more

Dined here with a group of 6 on a Tuesday night. We started with drinks and appetizers. We were all craving oysters so we ordered a mixture of west coast, east coast and BBQ'd oysters. The BBQ'd oysters came out first and were delicious, but then they were followed by the east and west coast oysters. The west coast oysters... More

Have eaten at Mitchells for years in Livonia and have had great food and service. First time in Birmingham and was surprised that it was not more crowded. Four for dinner. Food was good, but service was poor. Drinks took 10-20 minutes to get and plates not cleared etc, Expected the same as Livonia, but did not happen.

Mitchell's tries really hard to make you happy. We had wonderful service and management checked in on as well. My glass of Pinot noir was excellent. Dinners included lobster (wow!), broiled sea bass, and cashew crusted white fish. The mashed potatoes were some of the best I've ever eaten. Creme brûlée for dessert was good without being overly sweet.

My wife and I took my sister here for dinner. Right from the time we walked in the door the service was very friendly and our table was ready. We ordered several appetizers and enjoyed them all. We all had different meals and tried one another's, everyone was very impressed. The server was friendly and attentive, continually making sure we... More

Mitchell's is an upscale fish restaurant in very hip Birmingham. The atmosphere is energetic, the food is very good, and the wait staff could not be more attentive. It is a great place for a date or for fine dining.

We had a delicious lunch here yesterday. The atmosphere was very quiet and calming. We sat at a booth and our server was David. He was prompt and attentive. Bread was served with the drinks, as we waited for our entrees. I ordered a fish of the day, broiled cod with red potatoes and fresh vegetables. My husband had the... More

Fine food, exemplary service by wait person, Kathryn. Three of us, all started with the lobster bisque which was excellent. We all had distinctive dishes. I had filet mignon, one had lobster and the other had English fish and chips. The coffee was bitter but the food, cutlery and appointments are outstanding.

This is a lively attractive place. The bar is separate and seems to draw a crowd. The seafood here is simple but high quality. They display nice pieces of salmon, tuna, swordfish, cod. They are cooked simply but the quality is excellent. Their oysters are also very good. The vegetables were nothing special. Orders come with mashed red skin potatoes... More

I wanted Italian but my husband recommended Mitchell's since he had been before. The salad was an unusual blend of flavors - delicious. The bread hot and crisp. Another hit. We ordered the halibut by recommendation of our server Brittany. She suggested pan seared but we got planked with asparagus, sin dried tomato etc. It was not hot yet overcooked.... More
