We have been going here for about 25 years, many times after hockey games years ago when the kids played at the rink next door. It is a great place to meet friends and get a very good value for your money.

I have been frequenting Whistle Stop for many years and it's as good now as when I started going more than 15 years ago. It's a great place for lunch during the week (and a little more crowded for breakfast on the weekends). They offer breakfast all day long. Watch for their French toast special with strawberries - promise you... More

It's not really fair to judge a diner by its past owners, but Whistle Stop has gone through a succession of owners over the past 40 years and some were truly excellent...then there are the rest of the pack. Right now this is a pedestrian diner replete with canned corned beef hash, recycled hash browns for potato pancakes and sour... More

Went here for breakfast and found a typical little diner. Nothing special or outstanding but not bad at all either. Service was very quick and friendly. I got an omelet and the wife got eggs benedict. Both were good but nothing to write home about. Portions were huge, particularly the omelet. My wife's hash browns came out cold but mine... More

If you are looking for White Linen dining, this is NOT the place. It is, like I said, all but a Hole in the Wall Diner type restaurant. Informal, plain Diner type setting....GOOD Food and Pleasant Service, and Not expensive (as you can imagine). A cup of Chicken noodle soup was delicious. Don't know about Dinner hours, if any??? Not... More

My family has been going to the Whistle Stop for over 30 years. Although it has changed owners throughout the decades the quality of food remains the same. Mainly serving breakfast and lunch this small restaurant offers a variety of choices. Whistle Stop offers the standard omelet and pancakes, but also some different choices such as stuffed french toast, potato... More

This place was once great. I don't know what happened, but some of the spiffiness has melted away. Nobody lines up at the counter to buy their pies anymore, and the restaurant isn't worth the trouble to get there anymore.

Live out of state and come to Whistle Stop for breakfast whenever in town. Good weekday breakfast prices. Traditional breakfast menu. Always quick and food tastes good.

I went to the Whistle Stop this morning for breakfast. This will be my last visit. The food was okay, nothing special, but the service was awful. No refills on the coffee, never checked on me. HOWEVER, another customer who appeared to be a "regular" got fantastic service and my waitress told him in excruciating detail about her recent trip... More

Every town has a few spots where the locals routinely go for breakfast. Birmingham has several - and one of our favorites is Whistle Stop. If you want brunch / upscale, try Townhouse or Toast or some of the other town favorites. But if you want a modest priced, hearty, delicious breakfast, try Whistle Stop. The line can get long...
