This upscale but casual cafe in the heart of Birmingham MI is our favorite "go to" place for lunch or dinner. Outside dining is always fun but for casual meals we prefer a hi-top in the small bar area. The library and the front glassed in rooms are great for small parties and groups. The menu is simple but full... More

My wife & I had lunch at Cafe Via this weekend. Even though it was Birmingham's (MI) "Day on theTown" we had no trouble getting a seat on the patio. It's a pleasant setting, well covered, with a pleasant breeze, tables of 2 & 4, well off the street (minimal traffic noise), and THE place to see & be seen... More

I've eaten at cafe via a number of times...its charming with a variety of seating options. High tops in the bar, banquettes, small private room and indoor/outdoor seating year round. Food is very good but somewhat pricey- entrees in the $20-$30 range with soups, salads, apps and sides a la carte. My entree was beef brisket and it was very... More

We had a very pleasant lunch at Cafe Via today. The food and the service are both very good. The menu is big enough to offer plenty of choice without being overwhelming. The server and the manager were both there when needed but not underfoot. The interior is quite nice and the patio is the best in town. I look... More

Cafe Via has warm and relaxing atmosphere, with really delicious food. My husband has the Ruby Red Trout whenever we dine there. It is our favorite place to take out-of-town guests and they are never disappointed. It's the one restaurant in Birmingham where we like to be "regulars." The vodka and tonics are done perfectly too! The patio is wonderful... More

Cafe Via is the most dog friendly restaurant in Oakland county. They have a beautiful patio setting in a courtyard area and welcome your dog. It is heated in the cooler weather months, so much so that we enjoyed a great lunch on a crisp but beautiful Saturday last December. And the food is great! We have had several lunches... More

Overall, we really love Cafe Via. The atmosphere is perfect, warm, inviting, relaxing, romantic. The servers are always pleasant and polite. The only downside is that the chef changes the way he makes things all the time. One time the Caprese Salad has chunks of tomatoes, the next time slivers of tomatoes. I know he/she is just being creative, but... More

I am a New Yorker who just returned from a month of upscale dining in France so it is unfair for me to nitpick the meal and keep it in the context that this is Birmingham and it is Michigan. In that context it was very good. The dishes were a chef trying somethings unusual, such as fried brussel sprouts.... More

I love this place. Food is excellent, so is the service. Very well run clean restaurant. May be a bit pricy for feb whole family but perfect for a night out with the spouse. Outdoor seating is fun, even in the winter, where there are heaters and a covered area. Lots of good standard choices to eat done well. They... More

We recently were unexpected guests at Cafe Via. We received a warm welcome and were placed in a particularly comfortable area just beyond the bar and with the outdoor area with it's fireplace in clear view. Our server was most pleasant and helpful and the quality of the food was very good. We had explained that we were attending an... More
