Nice for a quick bite

The place was suggested to us by our innkeeper, and it was a lovely place, however we did have to sit, and didn't get to "take out" the sandwiches. That's not an issue, we would have preferred a sandwich "take away" setting as well. You HAVE to get the grilled chicken sandwich. It is AMAZING!

My family has been going to the Optimist Cafe since it opened. We have never missed having at least one breakfast there while vacationing at the Cape. The food is delicious and everyone there is friendly. You may have to wait for a table, but it is worth it.

Had breakfast with family - very busy on Saturday am but worth the wait! Waiter forgot about us during the rush so to make up for it he brought free fruit & muffins for us & did not charge us for any of the beverages. Unique food combinations - wonderful breakfast treats - the corn beef hash did not appear... More

As I live nearby, I occasionally visit the Optimist Cafe for lunch. Today was the first time I've gone during the busy Cape Cod summer season, and it'll be the last. While service and food were good, the bare tables and wooden floors, high ceilings, and curtainless windows make for a very noisy dining experience. We were seated next to... More

We live close by and should be regular patrons, but for some reason, we hadn't been there for a while, so we decided to go there for lunch. As soon as we were seated, we recalled why we had not been back; the noise level in the dining room is incredible. The floors are wood, the chairs are not upholstered,... More

The other day I came to Optimist Cafe to grab a late brunch. I came alone as I usually do to sample one of the many breakfast spots on Cape Cod. I enjoy seeing and eating the different flavors and variations of many different plates. This particular time, I ordered the Cape Cod Omelette from my server James. The restaurant... More

My mother and I went here for lunch. It took nearly ten minutes before someone seated us. Once seated, the waiter, who was extrememly nice, was very prompt in ordering our lunch. I do not know what happened between our order at the table and the kitchen. We waited 50 minutes for a salad and fish tacos. We finally had... More

We both had the Lobster Benedict. We shared an order of crepes. We wanted berry crepes--something more traditional than the apple crepes. They were happy to oblige even though it wasn't on the menu. Although the crepes had more of a blintz flavor with cream filling, they were tastey. Dining areas were bright and cheery with original art displayed on... More

It's okay; nothing special and overpriced. The corned beef and eggs special was in fact, canned corned beef that you buy in the supermarket. If you want home fries it's an extra $2.50 and they were not well cooked as I like them. Coffee is $3.00. My salmon Benedict was okay, but muffin was not fully toasted. However, a major... More

Had lunch here mid-week. Attentive waitress, but slow kitchen. Good Reuben, excellent curried chicken. The chicken salad was hearty, with just enough mayo to hold it together. Had a butter cake for dessert -- good, but not the "dessert to die for" , as described. Overall, I'd try it again. In an old sea-captain'so house -- interesting rooms!
