Great food, extensive menu

This restaurant has a nice ambiance - good decor, and enticing aromas. The menu is extensive, with many vegetarian and vegan options identified. We shared 3 entrees - lamb saag, nine jewels korma, and vegetable vindaloo. The first two were excellent; the third was too spicy for me (the "hot hot... read more

I love Indian cuisine but where I live in the South, requires a long drive. Main Street Williamstown, Mass. is about two blocks long. Once I heard this place was a possibility, we headed there. I can't say that it was the best ever Tandoori chicken but then it's not to be cut with knife & fork. It's finger food.... More

They have nice decor and the manager was welcoming. I thought we ordered "safe" dishes, but the chicken tandoori and nan were, sorry to say, below average. They were tasteless in fact, and it is unfortunate because they are such basic Indian cuisine choices.

Great food, service and atmosphere or the money. I highly recommend trying-out the restaurant for yourself. It's one of the best I've ever gone to. Thank you.

Williamstown desperately needs interesting restaurants and Spice Root fills a gap in the area's culinary offerings. The food is good and the service is usually very friendly. This is pretty standard U.S. Indian fare and nothing special. But local eaters and visitors who crave something beyond pub fare and New American cuisine will find Spice Root a welcome change.

With all the great reviews on Trip Advisor, I was expecting to encounter a wow factor with at least one thing on the menu but it didn't happen. For appetizers, the Samosas were very good and the Ragara Patties were something pleasantly different from foods I've come across at other Indian restaurants. The Garlic and Cilantro Naan coupled with the... More

Nice place for a relaxed dinner, friendly service, good chana saag and tandoori chicken. The dining room was filled with happy people engrossed in conversation and in no rush to leave.

Spice Root is the best Indian Food around. Admittedly, there aren't may Indian food restaurants in Vermont. We travel to Middlebury, Burlington and Williamstown MA when we want good Indian food (and we've been known to go as far as Montreal). Spice Root is the best around, and competes with those in larger cities. Everything is excellent, but no matter... More
