Tasty Food Recommend by Willows Motel

Our motel host suggested this restaurant and we just got back from dinner. Outstanding barely covers it! We ordered Chicken Mango Wala and Lamb Sag Wala, we got an order of garlic naan also. Vern had coffee and I tried their Masala Chai. We had a small appetizer on the table upon arrival with a... read more

If you stay at the Williamstown Motel, you get 10% off at this restaurant. Indian food makes a nice taste change when one is traveling, so I recommend this restaurant for that reason. However, the food is just average. The spinach soup tasted like dishwater and I did not finish it. The Malai Kofta was strangely sweet with a cream... More

We went for a Sunday buffet and i have to say it was awfull. The grilled meat was so tough i could not eat it. then then didnt fill the naan or any fresh grilled meat. the mean was not grilled with the clay oven either.. the chutney;s were really old looking and were probably open and closed for weeks.... I love spicy food. My wife doesn't. She's a vegetarian. I am not So we try and find restaurants that serve both our needs. Such a place is Spice Root in Williamstown where we both dined on a Friday night. She enjoyed a well prepared tofu dish; I had my tastebuds tingled with a fiery Chic ken Vindaloo. The portions... This restaurant has a nice ambiance - good decor, and enticing aromas. The menu is extensive, with many vegetarian and vegan options identified. We shared 3 entrees - lamb saag, nine jewels korma, and vegetable vindaloo. The first two were excellent; the third was too spicy for me (the "hot hot" disclaimer on the menu was accurate).

I love Indian cuisine but where I live in the South, requires a long drive. Main Street Williamstown, Mass. is about two blocks long. Once I heard this place was a possibility, we headed there. I can't say that it was the best ever Tandoori chicken but then it's not to be cut with knife & fork. It's finger food.... More

They have nice decor and the manager was welcoming. I thought we ordered "safe" dishes, but the chicken tandoori and nan were, sorry to say, below average. They were tasteless in fact, and it is unfortunate because they are such basic Indian cuisine choices.

Williamstown desperately needs interesting restaurants and Spice Root fills a gap in the area's culinary offerings. The food is good and the service is usually very friendly. This is pretty standard U.S. Indian fare and nothing special. But local eaters and visitors who crave something beyond pub fare and New American cuisine will find Spice Root a welcome change.

With all the great reviews on Trip Advisor, I was expecting to encounter a wow factor with at least one thing on the menu but it didn't happen. For appetizers, the Samosas were very good and the Ragara Patties were something pleasantly different from foods I've come across at other Indian restaurants. The Garlic and Cilantro Naan coupled with the... More
