We always have great fun when we go to the Back Eddy. A little loud, but love the energy. Food excellent and waitstaff very friendly.

Great spot for a drink on the floating deck at sunset. Drinks must be in plastic cups, which a bit of a turn off, but the sunset is the most spectacular in the area. Ambience of the harbor priceless. But then if you want to eat, you must enter into a lovely dining room - that is so noisy you... More

and enjoy this wonderful restaurant on the water...best oysters I've ever had! Service a little spotty but well worth the potential inconsistency for the experience.

We were hosted for a lovely meal. Food was very good, nice place to go if you're in the Portland area. The oysters were amongst the best I've ever had!

my wife and i hosted a wedding reception. the location was superb, on the waterfront, early evening in perfect weather. the food was very very good, no complaints from our 16 guests. wait-staff friendly and interested and of particular note was the fact that the management checked to see that we were all happy - which we all were! this... This used to be a great restaurant. Great location, great food. In the past few years it has really deteriorated. They get by on the view. It's expensive and the portion sizes are small. I took my wife who has some food allergies there to show her the beautiful setting and share a meal. The waitstaff told us we could... More

Although the website said open Mondays, following the drive, it was closed. We decided to try again later in the week. We were unimpressed. It was not busy on a Wednesday night. However, our service was abominable. The food was cold, the wine portion was meager, and we did not feel welcome at all. In fact, it seemed that we... More

Don't hesitate to hold a large family function at this beautiful seaside spot. Our 50 guests all raved about the food and service. We had 3 menu choices and opted for swordfish, steak and chicken. For apps we enjoyed stuffies, bruschetta and beef and chicken skewers. Oysters on the half shell were outstanding. Chef Aaron outdid himself- not to mention... More

This place is more about the setting/hype and less about the food/dining experience. The clam chowder is amazing, however, by far the best I have had...more of a brothy type than the cement-thick types out there. Even if the food was incredible, which it is not, this place would not be worth going back simply because of how unpleasant it... More

Stopped by this restaurant after an afternnon at the beach. A Co-worker had recommended that we should try it. The food was inconsistent. My Fiancee had a loberster casserole which she said was excellent. I tried a pulled pork barbeque plate which was not very appetizing considering the cost. The restaurant has a great view, good atmosphere, but I found... More
