This is known as Martha Vineyard's best restaurant by people with summer homes here. The ambiance is lovely with high beamed ceilings and good acoustics. My only criticism is I prefer tablecloths to highly polished wood for hygienic reasons. We had scallops for an appetizer consisting of three large scallops romesco with local pea greens and pine nut olive relish... More

What a great spot! Great atmosphere, their garden is absolutely fantastic. Food is delicious and of great quality. Also president Obama goes here, which is pretty cool. I would recommend this spot to anyone who enjoys quality food.

This place is by far the best on the island hands down. If only have the time or money for one place to eat make sure you get to the State Road Restaurant. The food is phenomenal and the staff is friendly. Can't say enough about their swordfish it is to die for.

Food, wine, service - all as expected!! This restaurant was described to me as a very good place to eat, and I wasn't disappointed at all. I can't comment on the value as I was treated to dinner but I can't believe that it is cheap. The local produce is obviously sourced extremely well and this adds to the freshness... More

Enjoyed the meal but the aloof service ruined what was to be a special dinner out for us. From the snotty hostess who chided us for being 10 min early when we walked in to the fact that our server left midway through service and didn't bother to let us know left a sour taste in our mouth as we... They were very accommodating and got us space at the bar to eat on no advance notice. While waiting they serve beverages to the courtyard and it's fun to walk around there amidst a huge herb garden in the courtyard pulling spearmint leaves to eat, etc. We could have gotten five orders of the cauliflower "fritters" and eaten nothing but... Ate here a few years ago and wanted to come back on our stay in the Vineyard this summer. Booked solid for dinner for all of August but got in at 9 pm off the wait list. Great modern, elegant, cool but homey decor. Excellent service. Cauliflower fritters to die for. Great fish. Nice wines. Perfectly lit. Makes for a... More

After trying for weeks to get a reservation we ate for the first time at State Rd last night at 9:00. We are 30 yr residents of the island and frequent many of the islands restaurants. Over all the meal was great but our waitress had an attitude we could not shake- setting this aside we enjoyed ourselves. The restaurant... More

This is our 4th visit to this restaurant - twice we walked away thinking it was terrific and twice just good. Hard to put our finger on what makes the difference since the menu over the last 3 years is basically the same. As an example, last year the lobster salad was exceptional. This year, though the exact same ingredients,... More

If you wish to eat here plan ahead as this place books up fast. The best we could get was an early evening reservation which turned out just fine. The food and service was outstanding. There was enough variety on the menu to satisfy anyones palate. We shall return.
