Go for great fish. We were the youngest by a good 20 years. Its not a date night kind of place. It is a local, really fresh, really relaxed, throw on your flip flops, BYO wine and kick back. No frills, bright lights, friendly and sweet servers, great prices. Go with kids, friends, grandma, a date if its gonna be... More

I have had several fine experiences in the past. The latest was very poor. I waited at the door for several minutes for the servers to finish chatting and offer me a table. I then sat in a less than half full restaurant for 10 minutes without even an acknowledgement. I left at this point and will not be rushing... More

Was exposed to Captain Mardens about 17 years ago when I ate my first lobster roll at the Newton Mass store. They eventually closed leaving only the Wellesley restaurant. Same quality there. At our historic family reunion mentioned last week, a group of us tried to make reservations but they are not accepted. However, when we arrived about 1:15pm management... More

One incident is not a reflection of a trend nor is one bad customer service experience indicative of larger issue. However, I wanted to bring to light an incident that was poorly handled in my opinion. I purchased 8 lobsters and 2 dozen oysters 2 weeks ago. Two hours after I purchased the lobsters, I cooked them as I normally... More

If you don't feel like steaming your own lobster at home - this is the best place to eat it out. Great wait staff, delicious sides and fairly priced. Oh yes - you can even bring in your own wine! There is other fish on the menu and the fried selections are outstanding. We have eaten the fried sea scallops... More

Utilitarian nautical atmosphere. Has interesting grocery attached but had to rush off. Very good seafood.

This restaurant actually is called The Captain's Restaurant & TakeAway. It's under the umbrella of Captain Marden’s Seafoods, a seafood market next door. The restaurant is casual but a step up from what you'd expect at a typical fish fry place. For example, when you 1st walk in, you're not hit in the face with an overwhelming fried fish aroma.... We've gone to Capt. Mardens for oysters a few times. The oysters are incredibly fresh and delicious. Each time, there is a different selection to choose from (selection meaning the source of the oysters). Could be Duxbury, Wellfleet, Falmouth, etc. The server will happily describe how each differs. If there are multiple choices, you can order a mixed plate so... More
