We were a party of five and had the freshest and most delicious fish and seafood on our two weeks New England trip. No charge for handling the wine we brought. Take no reservations, waiting area quite small.

Captain Marden's is the place to eat seafood because it is also the supplier of fish to many first-rate Boston restaurants. You can't go wrong with anything here, but the fried oysters may well be the best ones on the entire planet. The breading is perfect -- crispy, not too salty, just the right ratio of cornmeal to flour --... More

We loved everything about this restaurant. Casual dining, BYOB, family atmosphere, good portions, low key good food! Can't wait to go back! We went for dinner and everything was prepared great.

Luckily, we arrived right before it got busy. This place is popular and people were willing to wait. We had the creamy New England clam chowder and the 2 lbs lobsters. The chowder was the best I have ever had. The lobster was good and reasonably priced. The claws were perfect, while the tail was a bit on the tough... More

My husbands new job is down the st. So after picking him up last night, we decided to try captains table. The parking lot was busy, good sign! When entering lobby already. About 10 people waiting! Another good sign. We. Only had a 5 min wait ,& got to sit at the bar area. The waiter brought us some delicious Corn... More

We ate here twice. The fish and clam chowders are outstanding. In fact, the clam chowder was probably the best we had during our 1 week trip to New England. Full of meaty clam nuggets. Not too pasty. I hardly ever eat fried food especially when I'm eating out, but the fried clams were delightful. Everything very fresh.

Go for great fish. We were the youngest by a good 20 years. Its not a date night kind of place. It is a local, really fresh, really relaxed, throw on your flip flops, BYO wine and kick back. No frills, bright lights, friendly and sweet servers, great prices. Go with kids, friends, grandma, a date if its gonna be... More

I have had several fine experiences in the past. The latest was very poor. I waited at the door for several minutes for the servers to finish chatting and offer me a table. I then sat in a less than half full restaurant for 10 minutes without even an acknowledgement. I left at this point and will not be rushing... More

Was exposed to Captain Mardens about 17 years ago when I ate my first lobster roll at the Newton Mass store. They eventually closed leaving only the Wellesley restaurant. Same quality there. At our historic family reunion mentioned last week, a group of us tried to make reservations but they are not accepted. However, when we arrived about 1:15pm management... More

One incident is not a reflection of a trend nor is one bad customer service experience indicative of larger issue. However, I wanted to bring to light an incident that was poorly handled in my opinion. I purchased 8 lobsters and 2 dozen oysters 2 weeks ago. Two hours after I purchased the lobsters, I cooked them as I normally... More
