There are not many persian restaurants in metro Boston. This is conveniently located in Watertown with easy public parking. The atmosphere was about average. The restaurant can use some remodeling. The service was good initially but when it got busier, it deteriorated. There was only one waitress and she was overwhelmed. The kabob barg was only average. Although the menu... More

I went for dinner on a very busy night, but was treated warmly. The food was tasty and the portions very generous, as were the explanations of the menu. Watertown has an interestingly mixed Middle Eastern population, and this restaurant provided an enjoyable entry.

We looked up this place because it is near the New Rep theatre, and wanted to have an early dinner. We were the only ones there, odd because "Thursday is the new Friday," but then again, we were early. The atmosphere was very warm and the tilework alone is worth a look inside. One of us is vegetarian and there... More

Wanted to try Iranian food in the Boston area, my parents chose Molana which they remembered from several years ago. But in the meantime, they more or less stopped eating meat, which meant it was a new experience for all of us. They had multiple salads, soups and appetizers, and were delighted by the flavors, especially the eggplant dip (kashk... More

We were told that Molana was the best Persian restaurant around Watertown/Belmont. We haven't tried the others, but this was certainly excellent. Everything we had was delicately spcied. (Several of us shared around). Warning: everything except the salads has dairy in it so this is not for the severely lactose intolerant. I would suggest a reservation for a weekend night... More

Came here while visiting Boston tonight, being of persian heritage I craved good food & this place was recommended. SERVICE WAS EXCELLENT, ATMOSPHERE GOOD. FOOD..... Not so hot, literally, the rice appeared left over & was lukewarm at best when everyone knows rice should be steaming hot & FRESH. This goes for 6 plates in our party. The kabob seasoning... More

I love Molana. I used to eat at the restaurant when it was called Mirage in Framingham (at the location that is now called Big Fresh). Chicken Kubideh is my favorite. They also have the lunchtime wraps which are a great option. I love the dugh (yoghurt based drink, similar to lassi or ayran) but they tend to make it... More

We happened to try this place through a Groupon and were pleasantly surprised! Pros: 1. Beautiful interior decor. 2. Their kabab platters are sumptuous and very tasty! 3. Being a Persian restaurant, do not miss their chicken and beef dishes! 4. Baklawas were a disappointment, have had better elsewhere. 5. Parking lot available towards the end of Spring St. Cons:... Great ethnic atmosphere; stunning, buxom waitress. I ordered a salmon kebab - three smallish pieces of fish with a grilled tomato and a large portion of saffron rice. My friend ordered the daily khoresht, a delicious beef stew with vegetables and Persian spices. The food was nothing to write home about, but I enjoyed the meal, if only for the... More

I ate here on a Wednesday night when there was a table-full of friends of the owner, all singing to Persian music. I felt like I had been transported to another country - fantastic! I avoid meat so stuck with basic fare: hummus (tons of garlic), stuffed grape leaves (served warm - nice) and a delicious concoction of eggplant, onions,... More
