Hidden Gem for Vegan food

I tend to have a lot of food sensitivities so eating out is tough for me. There are only so many salads you can eat. I found this place on trip advisor and thought I would give it a try after all I live in Waltham. Boy am I glad I did. The food was so tasty and flavorful. They... read more

My husband and I ate a meal from Masao's Kitchen on a recent trip to Boston. It was such a good experience, we decided to start eating a macrobiotic diet at home. If Masao's was closer we would eat there every week.

I am first and foremost a meat-lover. My husband knows that and yet for my 30th birthday, brought me there with my mom. a party of 4 (our 3yo daughter was with us too) I must admit him telling me that he had plan on making me eat vegan food (and not just vegetarian) got me a bit anxious. The... More

masao is an exceptional chef I wouldn't exactly call his place a restaurant it's a serve yourself buffet or you can opt for a noodle dish, noodle soup, also does strudel cookies and cake without eggs extremely difficult to do. you can eat there or take out. He also has a great cookbook available at the restaurant or on amazon.... More

One of the least positive reviewers here, who said he wasn't vegan, said this was kind of like mom's homemade vegan cooking when she wasn't expecting company. Well, I agree, but I would call that a positive, not a negative. Not having grown up vegan, this is wonderfully delicious food from the vegan mom I never had. The place is... More

Masao's is incredible - I would travel many miles for this place. Affordable and always fresh. He puts a lot of love into this food.

This macrobiotic eatery has been around for decades, and the food continues to be fresh and delicious. The barbeque tofu is my favorite, and I get it whenever possible. The cost is really reasonable given how carefully prepared everything is, and while the atmosphere is basic, it's great for take-out or eating in.

This restaurant is really great. The buffet is what I always get. One of the hidden gems in the Boston area. I'm only upset that I didn't learn about it until I was about to move from Waltham. The owner is also very friendly. One of the few places with truly healthy food.

Came here for lunch on a weekday; a friend, carnivorous but willing to please me, in tow. The tiny restaurant filled up soon after 12:00. Buffet service with a good choice of very tasty vegan dishes, some of which were labeled with meaty names. I was very happy. The carnivore ordered a "bbq" sandwich with which he was very happy.... A treat to find a restaurant that has macrobiotic fare. One has much to choose from, my favorite is Noodles and Broth. The restaurant's cafeteria style but the choices are excellent. Not your typical vegetarian food; brown rice, beans, barbecue tofu, seitan, miso and on and on. We were not disappointed and have been back several times.
