Description: Il Capriccio serves a constantly changing Northern Italian menu featuring local products with an award winning Italian wine and Grappa list. Though long considered a local secret, Il Capriccio has been the number one Northern Italian restaurant in Zagat's for the past seven years. The wine list has been featured in Decanter, Sante, Wine & Spirits and Stuff. The same menu is served in the Bar. We like to serve great food and great wine in a comfortable setting.

Il Capriccio is a very nice Italian restaurant in Waltham, MA. I have been to this restaurant three times, each time to sit at the bar and have a couple of drinks and a small dinner. The service here is excellent. They bartenders are always knowledgeable about the food and the day's specials and I have never been disappointed by... More

My wife and I first went to il Cappricco 25 years ago on our first anniversary. The food and the service has been consistently great since our first visit. We always try something new and have always appreciated the care in how the meals are designed, prepared and served. The flavors are superb, and we come away from our dinners... More

I realized recently that, despite having patronized Il Capriccio for many years, I had never reviewed it, so wanted to correct the oversight. Obviously we love it, as we've used it for our "special night out" destination for quite a while. That's not because it's necessarily more expensive than other very good restaurants in the area, but it has sort... More

After reading the rave review of Il Capriccio in the Boston Globe a few weeks ago, I called and made a reservation. My wife and I had not been there in over two years and although we live nearby, it had fallen off our radar. We went on a Saturday night with another couple and were seated within 15 minutes... More

First visit to the much lauded Il Capriccio last night - wow, everything was superb. Had hseared froie gras appetizer which was served w/very thinly-sliced apples and over a potato gallatin w/a wine reduction sauce that was simply the best I've ever had. I then chose the duck breast entree - mouth watering and cooked to perfection. The wine list... More

Il Capriccio has been my husband and my favorite restaurant for over 20 years. However, the last 2 times we dined there we were very disappointed. We did have the same waitress for our last 2 visits so that may have been part of the problem. We were seated for only a few minutes when our waitress came over and... More

We have been a dozen times since we moved to the area. Every time a superb experience -- great food and great service.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- When in Boston (or actually Waltham west of Boston), I recommend Il Capriccio. Foods fine (Northern Italian with Mass ingredients), staff is very friendly, and with a solid list of 99 Barolos, it should be a good bet for a bite to eat for years to come.

I have been to Il Capriccio several times over the last few years. I have never been disappointed. As others have said the Porcini Mushroom Souffle is a must!! The other part that really stands out is the wine list. They have the best and one of the most extensive array of Italian wines I have ever seen. It can... More

A nice restaurant, but not worth the high prices. The sweetbread ravioli is a mistake. In our book, sweetbreeads are not supposed to actually be sweet as in sugary. The port wine sauce overpowers the taste of the sweetbreads. The swordfish and the veal are good, although portions are small. We got a $36 bottle of 2006 barbera. It was... More
