Il Capriccio serves a constantly changing Northern Italian menu featuring local products with an award winning Italian wine and Grappa list. Though long considered a local secret, Il Capriccio has been the number one Northern Italian restaurant in Zagat's for the past seven years. The wine list has been featured in Decanter, Sante, Wine & Spirits and Stuff. The same menu is served in the Bar. We like to serve great food and great wine in a comfortable setting.

Fabulous Food

I had the lamb chops for dinner recently, and it had to be the best I have had. The meat was properly seasoned and cooked perfectly. Great wine pairing as well.

Based on the raves they have quoted on their website, and the reviews I read here, I was expecting a really superb dining experience. I was disappointed. Food was average for the price. We have had far worse meals in the Boston area, but this particular evening our meals were.. OK. We've had much better food for less. Service was... More

This is one of the best Italians restaurants around. Space is limited and the bread is not that great, but that is pretty much all the bad things you can complain about. It is expensive but totally worth it. I recommend the lobster Gnocchi and the scallops. You will enjoy a delicious meal. Thank me later.

There is no need to travel to downtown Boston, this restaurant is the BEST. Food is excellent and they change the menu often. We have never had anything we didn't love. They offer smaller sizes for those who want a lighter dish. The service is always exemplary and the hostess remembers our name and welcomes us like we are family.... More

Il Capriccio never fails to impress. The menu has something for everyone and the Chef executes to perfection. Service is always spot on and the ambiance is homey. Noise level is low, so conversation is easy.

Possibly the best restaurant in the whole Boston metropolitan ares. Consistently fresh interesting tasty food. For small appetites the appetizers are a great solution. Always new and interesting wines to sample.

I consider Il Capriccio the best Italian restaurant in Metropolitan Boston. The meals are great and the service is excellent. I love their mushroom souffle (souffle di porcini), the linguine carbonara and the risotto with sea scallops. Their wine list is outstanding. Do not miss this extraordinary culinary experience.

This place never disappoints. Great wine list, amazing seafood and wonderful staff! I loved the grilled octopus appetizer and the goat cheese and beet salad was yum! My boyfriend ordered the steak special and loved it. We love going here!

I lived in Waltham for eight years and discovered this restaurant in its original location in the early 90's. We have gone back many times, and make it a destination when we are in the Boston area. The food is modern Italian, and excellent. The wine list has been, from the start, very extensive. The sommelier, Jason, is very knowledgeable... More
