Description: Il Capriccio serves a constantly changing Northern Italian menu featuring local products with an award winning Italian wine and Grappa list. Though long considered a local secret, Il Capriccio has been the number one Northern Italian restaurant in Zagat's for the past seven years. The wine list has been featured in Decanter, Sante, Wine & Spirits and Stuff. The same menu is served in the Bar. We like to serve great food and great wine in a comfortable setting.

This Italian Restaurant isn't what you would expect in an Italian restaurant. The menu is nice and small and the pasta dishes are almost nonexistent. But there are unique dishes like Quail and Swordfish on the menu. If you have never been there before, I would suggest checking the menu online before you go to make sure it the type... More

After hearing about Il Capriccio for years, finally went with two friends for a special occasion... And am wondering why it took me so long. Their wine list doesn't stint on what it offers by the glass - had a lovely Sangiovese Rosa. We shared an antipasto plate among three of us - just right to whet our appetites. The... More

I eat out a lot and don't often describe a meal as "memorable" but everything about the experience I had there last week -- service, food, wine, atmosphere -- was memorable in every good way possible, The food is simply sensational and the wine list has one of the best and most diverse collections of Italian wines I've ever seen... Dined here on a work night and it was pleasantly busy. The service was impeccable, settling us to just the right pace without being too pushy or forgetful. The food is divine! Make sure you start with the mushroom soufflé - it is incredibly delicious! For our entree' we each ordered a different item and shared. This night, we sampled... More

We ate at Il Capriccio for the first time, a few weeks ago, on September 26th 2013. Accompanied by my wife and niece, we thought we'd try a new place for us and picked Il Capriccio from Yelp and other reviews. We arrived about 5:30 with our two dogs in the car. You can't park directly in front of the... More

We've been dining at Il Capriccio since it was a six table affair around the corner from its current location. Over the years, they have stayed true to their roots of fine Italian dining, with wonderful seasonal menus, and an always superb wine list. Many things have changed, but the quality remains. Still one of our all time favorites in... More

Il Capriccio gets it right in every way, every time. If you appreciate beautifully executed, delicious food, stellar service, a Sommelier nearby, and a warm welcome, then this is the place for you!! We drove 2 hours south from Portland, Maine to enjoy another fantastic dinner in one of the best restaurants in New England. We were enthusiastically greeted by... More

We have eaten here so often as to lose count. Never a bad dish. Get the beet salad. And the grilled shrimp on polenta. The fish is always fresh: the swordfish and cod are exceptional. The veal is really terrific. Desserts are fabulous. Get the warm chocolate burdino with mint chip ice cream and caramel sauce. Unbelievable!!!

We recently returned from spending time in Charleston, SC, where there are amazing restaurants. However, Il Capriccio is like returning to a great production of a favorite opera. We so enjoyed returning to the great food produced by chef-owner Richie Barron at Il Capriccio. Favorites like the chicken schnitzel, and the pasta Bolognese can't be beat. Wonderful wines and great... More

My second time to this place and the food is just amazing! It's a very busy place so the waiting area can jam up at times and it's very energetic/noise, but it's worth it since the food is so good. Can't wait to go back! Be sure to make a reservation and bring lots of cash or cc it's pricey.
